If that was still the case, there would be a bunch of idiots walking around thinking NYC was named after Toronto.

I'm a bad parent.
My 7 y.o. was telling me about her day at school. She said so-and-so got in trouble because he said private words while holding scissors. I'm thinking to myself, what do private words mean? So I ask her to tell me exactly what he said and she deadpan says "I'm going to snip your balls off" and I start howling.
Private words = words about private parts in her innocent little brain.

It's weird to say "October 2024" when that was the most recent October. By adding the year, you're just making people stop an extra instant and think, was that last year or the one before? What year is it now?

If you can imagine, dude was just as interesting, if not more interesting in real life. I met him once at a storage locker to buy something from him, he tells me he'd been purging and had sold tractors and kangaroo rugs just a few days prior. He was like, "I didn't even know I had kangaroo rugs, but the nice couple found them on the property, wanted to buy them, so I sold them!"
Dude tried to sell me dinosaur bones, but before I could answer, he decided he wasn't going to sell them because he wasn't sure if doing so was illegal.
He's the type of dude you buy a couple of drinks just to listen to his crazy stories. I once wondered if his stories were exaggerated. I met him once for like 15-20 minutes and I'm convinced he's downplaying true anecdotes.
