You are welcome to look into it yourself if you think I have made anything up. My wife and her work have nothing to do with attempting to include or define communities. She is just there to help where she can
How many pedophiles do you and your wife know that you speak on behalf of their community? That’s more of a statement on you than the gay community.

And no, I won’t be looking into it, thanks for the offer but I don’t feel the inclination to research people like that. If you’d ever like to post something to support your claim I would read it.

Ah, more personal attacks. I dont think its befitting to attach the specific links in this forum. There are studies done by the NIH regarding the term map and if you cared to look into it. But you wont, because you rather insult and imply disgusting things toward myself. Once again, this has nothing to do with the LGTBQ community as a whole. Im not attacking them or implying anything on their behalf. I was providing further insight into what gordan was speaking about, not echoing his statements as fact.
I wont be responding or engaging on this topic again. Back to politics.

Easy way around this is to post links/references/sources.

Leger now showing the CPC and Liberals both at 37%

Obviously we saw very similar polling after the switch from Biden to Kamala, but if you're in the CPC war room you better be working on something other than a slogan.

That study doesn’t say what you think it does, and I highly doubt a term that circulates primarily in pro-pedophile groups and some limited academic groups researching the topic would be commonplace among nurses in a hospital.

His whole campaign was that he isn't Trudeau, and now his opposition is no longer Trudeau next election.

He needs new material. It also doesn't help that he didn't come down hard on Trump and instead half sided with Smith at the time, and seems to be friends with Musk and company.

And yet some CPC partisans are still accusing others of ignoring reality.

It’s time for the party to wake up. I think they’re too far down the rabbit hole to boot PP, but the warnings many were making about the socially regressive, Trump-like direction and tone is proving to be a very valid concern. They need a hard shift in direction, I’m just not sure they have a leader that knows how.

There's like... One Reddit post and YouTube video advocating for what you have said there was 'a lot of pressure' for. There are two studies on the NIH, not including the on you just linked explaining why they're different and should not be put together.

Either you've misinterpreted what your wife was trying to convey or you and your wife consider a very small community of people hoping for more mainstream acceptance of their dangerous atypical sexual orientation "a ton of pressure".

Or you're arguing in bad faith to try and connect map and LGBTQ because that has long been a conservative pipe dream.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume one of the first two. Please don't give me reason to doubt that.

Trump is undoubtedly hurting the CPCs chances here with the tariff issue and general ####housery.

But i also wonder, if the price of goods continues to go up, if inflation continues to flatline or even rise, if the economy falters a bit, etc. will this have the same effect.

For the past 4 years, Dems and Libs (Liberal ideology, really) has been under attack, using the cost of goods and inflation as the main knife. If we believe most Trump voters, this was their reason for voting.

If these don't change, do many Canadian swing voters see the wool was pulled over their eyes on that?

He must have missed this, rather significant, line:

“Such parallels between sexual interest in children, and same-sex attraction, have long been rejected by LGBTIQ+ organizations and communities, and such comparisons are generally agreed to be discriminatory against LGBTIQ+ people.”

Or this one from the conclusion:

“Controversies over academic use of the term MAPs have had a role to play within right-wing anti-LGBTIQ+ movements, including the claim that LGBTIQ+ people are “grooming” and sexualizing children (Shah, 2023). Such despicable accusations have been fueled by the confident assertions of some MAPs scholars that pedophiles are “queer” or otherwise belong under the LGBTIQ+ umbrella. The opportunistic right-wing capitalization on such claims illustrates the irresponsibility of academic parallels between pedophilia and same-sex attraction, which not only undermines and delegitimizes the project of sexual abuse prevention, but it is also feeding into politically extremist rhetoric against LGBTIQ+ people.“

Once Trump won, PP's best hope was to get an election before Trump started ruining things. Unfortunately for him, Trump got a head start, and now everyone who was abandoning the Liberals are having second thoughts.
The term is M.A.P (minor attracted person) and is very frequently used in my wifes profession within alberta health. This is not a new term. There was pressure a few years ago to add them to the LGTBQ community but it was strongly rebuffed by the vast majority of the community
If your going to quote me, use the actual wordsI used. Dont add superlatives to make your point. And how does that differ whats so ever from my original statement?

I disagree.

PP has gotten them as far as the CPC has been since Harper; and moves to the center by O'Toole and Sheer have largely been ignored. PP hasnt had an election yet, and i dont think any party wouldnt give their leader a chance.

Plus they have, for better or worse, embraced this kind of rhetoric now. No change in leader will make most people think twice. There doesnt appear to be the same intra-party discontent as was revealed in the Liberal party to make the shift seem more legitimate.

But i still think PP gives the CPC the best chance to win.

The part where there was pressure the identify them as part of the LGBTQ spectrum. The part that started this whole argument. The part that was audacious and salacious.

Scheer was just terrible. I think O’Toole’s issue was giving into the far right elements of the party and the pandering that came after (the O’Toole from the leadership run and the statement he made on his exit, both a rejection of those elements, were well received outside the party).

PP’s popularity has been largely due to anti-Trudeau sentiment, which is increasingly irrelevant. He needs another gear if he wants to hold on to the majority he was all but promised. How many years has it been since we’ve seen one?

Poliver's campaign manager has deep ties to Loblaws.

the NDP feels like the only party that isn't covered in Corporate slime.
