The Crazy thing about this new brand of American Imperialism is that they are saying the quiet part loud.
America has enjoyed the most peaceful economic and cultural imperialism in the history of the world. They have enormous influence over foreign sovereign states without needing to make threats out loud. More than that people are complicate if not happy to accept this influence.
However, now that they a e bragging about it out loud, it is forcing people, otherwise under their dominion to second guess what has been happening the last 70 years and in fact resist America.
I just don't understand the gains.

All the Trumpers are posting all over the place, like giddy little school kids, that google renamed the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf of America. As if google is somehow a naming authority. So stupid.

Trump is going back 150 years. He's trying to pull a King Leopold II, not colonizing but privately owning Central Africa.
People often ask what's worse than Hitler. Here's a candidate.

I hope Stephen Miller recommends the Purge to Trump.
I would pay PPV money to watch that.

Probably already happened. On the campaign trail Trump kept going on about Police having impunity and should have one day a year where they can do whatever they want to put people in line.

Yes, the US government is being torn to pieces by a teenager, and the Republicans are letting it happen. Nay, cheering it on, and helping out. Wild stuff. Basically every one of them is a traitor to the US constitution to which they swore to protect. But lying is way down the list of things people care about, so this is the result.

Not my boomer parents, from the impression I get. My sister and I were joking we'll probably just get issued a bill after they pass, to clear up the rest of their debts. I really don't think they financially planned well.
Meanwhile, one of my best friends just mentioned his retirement plan is basically inheriting his mom's wealth after she passes. Also just gets her house in New Brunswick. Maybe I'll be his butler..

I hear a great deal from my friends who have parents who are now dying about how their parents tried to scrimp and save their whole lives " to have something to pass along".
But they lived much longer than they thought possible - into their 80's and 90's. Their medical care ate through all of their savings years ago. The houses were often sold to help cover it. Inflation has eaten much of the rest.
One advantage of Canada is medically assisted suicide. So at least you can choose to go out rather than linger on life support for years and years.

Maybe we should do the Logan's Run thing. Hey I wouldn't be surprised if they implement that dystopian scenario down south.

Many children are receiving early inheritances, and help or gifts with down payments.

I've never been a 'keeping up with the Joneses' type of person, but I've been seeing all sorts of people, including friends, get these types of head starts and I can't lie I get pangs of jealousy.
Such is life. At least I was born in this country and had opportunities, and I am grateful for that.

Lol at even thought of an inheritance. I lost both my parents when I was fairly young and ended up with debt and a request from the landlord to GTFO as soon as possible so they could put the place up for rent.
I've had people ask me when they know my parents died, what I did with my inheritance at such a young age. It's pretty triggering to be honest and I never realized that getting an inheritance is a foregone conclusion to so many people.

I just reported the map update to Google that “Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)” should be “Gulf of Canada” when looking at it from maps.google.ca.
Seriously, who has the authority on place names?

Not sure, but what I am pretty sure about is that the President of the US can't rename international waters by executive order. This is all so stupid and probably a ploy to distract us all from the really ####ty things going on.

My girls have RESP and a trust fund from their grandma who is still alive. And they'll get more.
