I’ve seen several ICE protests pop up on the news, but it feels like nobody is speaking up in regards to the horrible s*** that Musk and his minions are doing, or any of the other crazy crap that’s happening. Americans just seem to be going about their days like everything is normal. The Daily Show has been great at highlighting all the insanity, but they seem to be the only ones.

The age group where people aren't thinking so much about declining health or retiring.

I remember being young and actually trying to move to the states. I had a job lined up right out of university in Colorado. I won the competition and was arranging the move and legalities until I was notified that one of the other candidates had contested it and later the offer was pulled. I didn't get the full scoop about what happened, but I believe it was because they were hiring a non-American and the employer needed to demonstrate that an American in the competition wasn't at least minimally qualified even if there was someone better. I had an interview in Houston as well, but didn't end up getting an offer.

Anyway, no regrets now at this point in my life knowing what I know now. I probably dodged a bullet there, figuratively and maybe literally.

Number 5 needs to be treated with the highest urgency possible and as a matter of economic and physical security for Canada. I’d say there’s actually a higher likelihood we get annexed than not as it stands today, but I don’t think that automatically means we are moved into concentration camps or anything like that. Prob depends on how we react, if we fight them that’s prob bad news if we don’t we may be able to live under their country peacefully.

I think Canadians justifications over time for killing our industries, economic competitiveness, and reduced productivity will ultimately be what does us in. Amazingly you actually still see people on this website still caring more about emissions than Canada’s survival. I think that’s still sadly the thought process of many Canadians but it’s going to cost us everything.

Don't disagree with your points but I also think this is worst case scenario thinking (but it's good to be mentally prepared for anything)

But I think it doesn't account enough for the potential pushback from the American people before it got to that point. Half of their population if not more would be against their nutjob administration encroaching on the sovereignty of a neighbouring nation that never provoked them.

I think Trump is overthrown or eliminated by his own people before it would reach that point, and all because of the hardship he's going to inflict on his own citizens and the blatant disregard for a constitution that so many Americans on both sides staunchly stand by.

There are a lot of hurdles between where we are and a successful Canada take over, and so much that can happen in between this point and that outcome that would prevent it.

I find people who immerse themselves in news and current events with all the sensationalizing and fear mongering in the media have a penchant for fear-based thinking that assumes the worst.

There are many outcomes that are possible that aren't that. And that's probably more realistically where we land.

I think Canada will reconfigure its trading and build new partnerships and it will achieve more self reliance economically over the coming years. This could be a blessing in disguise, and protect us from orher potential future threats that would spring up in the US in the future.

I see that as Canada confronting underlying issues that have been brushed under the rug for years. Trump is providing the incentive to finally address them. Sure, no one wants to face the growing pains of such an overhaul especially right now, but we as a country need this nudge.

Sellouts. A one-time ~40% gain on your assets is worth that? And some of those 18-34 year olds are talking about a "gain" of like $10k. That's just absurd. (I question whether there is a gain here, because in terms of real buying power it's a wash)
