I will say this, the idea of two grown ass men (they turn 40 soon!) having "beef" and releasing "diss tracks" will never stop being funny to me.

It's more that rap doesn't really lend itself to this format, so you either need a catalogue full of huge, well known hits (Kendrick really doesn't) or you need a great stage show to draw the attention, and this one was fairly understated.

It was more for the "Who would ever watch this" and "Who likes this" crowd.
To me it was a pretty average half time show, actually probably better than I thought Kendrick would be able to do since he doesn't really have a lot of "Club anthems" or things like that which work better for a show like this.
Overall though I also like his music, and didn't mind that it was a bit more low key and was focused more on his music and more of a creative approach with how they set up the dancers.

And to be fair to Kendrick most half time shows are fairly forgettable. Basically Prince and MJ are the two most people can easily recall as being truly great. I guess Janet's tit too, but no one remembers the actual music from that one, which kind of says it all.

I do remember Katy Perry ... or at least a part of that performance.

I think they should bring in Gojira for the next halftime act.

I need a movie or thrown together Netflix documentary to fully understand the Kendrick Lamar/Drake feud. I researched it this morning, and still don't fully understand what happened between the two. Then Lamar has Serena and SZA out there who are Drake's ex-girlfriends? Everyone is saying Lamar "slayed" Drake, but as one of the supposed "white crackers" these call-outs went right over my head. I understood the beef NWA/Easy E had with Ice Cube , yet this seems entirely different.

The 2014 halftime show with Bruno Mars and the Chili Peppers always stands out as one of the most entertaining for me. Had so much energy. I just found last night’s to be so mellow. Game already had me close to passing out, so was looking for a pick-me-up. Nope.
I never feel these translate to TV very well. Sound always sucks. Could be it was amazing in stadium.

MVP should of been someone on defense.

One problem is that times have changed...stars aren't stars anymore. You have 24/7 access to any artist and any performance from the last 50 years. Half time show just isn't that big a deal anymore. It will be debated for a few days and then forgotten.

One of those games that didn't really have a stand out and was a team effort.
Probably should have been a defensive player though, but really no single standout there either.
Maybe DeJean for the pick 6 that really was the game ender.
Because at 10-0 it still felt like Chiefs would turn it on at some point - but that play really made it feel like "nope this is different"

Giving it to DeJean when the pass rush was responsible for all of the turnovers feels wrong. Just get creative and split it for the whole DL. Nearly 50% pressure rate, most sacks against Mahomes in his career, and zero blitzes required. Whole group deserves a share of the MVP.

I thought giving it to Hurts was fine. There were some great performances on defense, but nobody really stood out. Whole DL ate, basically. On the other side, Chiefs pretty much took out Saquon and dared Hurts to win the game. He did.
