Because their stance used to be what was popular. Unfortunately for the country.

I’m simply listening to what they are saying outloud. Poilievre hasn’t been nearly vocal enough on the seriousness happening with our relationship to the US and our sovereignty. Also purposefully appealing to far right groups. Simply taking what they are saying at face value, the choice is obvious for me. I’m not wasting time trying to interpret and guess what hidden goals my choices have.

Believe in what “stance”? Their ####ing job is to represent the people and their interests. We have overwhelmingly been clear about how the carbon initiatives went.

Or at least, they thought it was. Then everyone yelled “no, hit the drawing board again!”

… so they are. And multiple people in the party lost their jobs over it.

Rube is pretty quiet. Must be tough seeing the Liberals come back and steal the NDPs lunch.

Would you rather a stubborn politician that sticks to their guns as the world around them changes, or one able to adapt their principles to a changing world for the benefit of the country?

PP has said the same things about the tariffs that the Liberals have. Same thing Ford has.

His Canada First policy makes a lot of sense. His inter provincial trade policies make a lot of sense. The Liberals had 9 years to do either, and have done nothing, but hey its PP that isn't saying the right things.

It is amusing how all of a sudden people are lapping up what the Liberals are saying. I mean its clear they are just taking advantage of a political opportunity to dupe the masses again.

I'm all for less spending, Canada First policies, etc, etc. But I'm not so naive to believe that they'd actually do something.

If you actually believe they are changing… I personally wouldn’t count on it.

What makes it even sillier (beyond conservatives complaining about policies they like coming from a party they don’t) is that people are acting like this is completely out of the blue, an entirely unprompted 180, flip-flopping, etc, while completely ignoring the fact that…

you know…

…there is a leadership race which is going to precede a federal election. Two situations where candidates campaign on how they’re going to be different/better.

Cons can just admit they like the policies instead of all this reaching to criticize. It’s OK not to blindly support your “chosen” party.

People still trot out and believe the falsehood that Conservative governments are good for the economy so there’s certainly crazier things to count on.

What makes you so eager to believe that the Liberals will or are laying all their cards out on the table for you to clearly see while the Conservatives might have some hidden goals and agenda? The Liberals don't have a track record of being open and honesty despite their most recent leader advocating selling his government as the most transparent ever. You are giving them the benefit of the doubt?

So much for this not actually being a major problem.

I’m not eager to believe any party… and I never said only one party had a hidden agenda. Where did you read that? Are you capable of having a conversation about this? Honest question.

Conservatives have a layup here, again….

I doubt anyone who responds to “I’m judging all parties at face value, not whatever hidden agenda they might have” with “Oh, so you think the CPC have a hidden agenda and the Liberals DON’T?” is remotely capable of having an actual conversation.

When people can’t even read a sentence without flipping it completely around, there’s no way their reading comprehension is at a level where they can have adult conversations about economic policies.

So, stick to just dropping random links to opinion pieces.

The reason the Liberals are the default governing party of Canada is because they’re adept at tacking with the political winds. They move left when they feel the NDP are a threat, and move right to counter the Conservatives. The Liberals don’t have any strong political convictions besides doing whatever they believe is most likely to get them elected.

And since the Conservatives were so driven by being 'anti-Liberal' it makes their messaging tough. They can't argue against the ideas because they have the same ones, and because their ideas are so superficial they can't really argue how theirs are better, either. Not to say the Liberals plans aren't superficial, they are, but because the Cons have fumbled everything the past few weeks when it comes to messaging, they're chasing the Liberals shift rather than being ahead of it. Political memories are short. All this bs down south has reset a lot of them, and reset people's priorities. What was said 6 months ago, 5 years ago, or 10 years ago is basically forgotten. Nobody will care that the Cons have been beating that drum for years before hand, it's about who's saying what I want to hear now! And now is a cycle where the Conservative leader is fresh off talking with Jordan Peterson and appearing weak and indecisive against American pressure and the Liberals are holding the Canadian flag, standing up to a bully and proposing developing resources and upping defense spending, just thing kinds of things the electorate wants to hear (right now).

Politics are all about timing, and the timing is working out a lot more for the Liberals than the Conservatives.

Traditionally the Liberals have run on the left and then ruled on the right once elected, fairly smart ploy really
