I swear you have a point. I have had pipelines that have been fine for 40 years and I go and inspect them twice in two years, that first inspection clears out the layer that was stopping further corrosion.

The sediment is probably the seal keeping it all together...
It was just kinda wild the difference that was going on. 2 guys semi casually taking a tank down the stairs. Then 3 guys yelling and straining to get one old tank up the stairs.

When we bought our house it had galvanized pipes. I don't know if you've ever cut into one of those but after 60 years it was mostly a rust lattice on the inside. A renter had previously "fixed" a pin hole with a piece of duct tape. We're in Sunnyside and have pretty high water pressure, >90 psi in the basement. 90 freaking psi and a piece of duct tape holding back some rust kept a pipe from leaking.
It's like the old neglected car that gets a transmission flush and starts missing shifts the next day. I'm not saying preventative maintenance is a bad thing, but sometimes it's best to let sleeping dog lie.

We used duct tape for a dead leg in our sour gas plant. It held until the turnaround. Aamazing #### and totally illegal.

I have a problem. I have a dog I don’t like at all. Previous dog was amazing. It got stolen and then was recovered in Strathmore, it was in the news, great dog, the best. Shepherd/husky amazing. Many years of no dog bliss after. Vacations are easy, meals without begging, ashes on the mantle, perfect. We were model dog owners, all the classes, perfect play partners to all the other dogs at the park, big and small. Became friends with people we met through the dog.
Pandemic comes, getting the full court press, everyone else is getting a dog. In a weak moment I agree. Had no part in the sourcing because of my reluctance. You pick it, be like the previous dog is all I ask. Fack.
It’s a reserve dog. We are not snobs and my wife is a saint (foreshadowing). Whatever, it will be alright. Fata me. All the courses and stuff. Manageable around other dogs, bigger than we hoped. But………
The dog eats its own crap. Immediately.
And before some dork says “he’s missing something in his diet”. We have done ALL of that dumb crap. The money I have spent on fancy foods and vets on this thing. It will look you in the eye as it eats it.
It’s disgusting but my wife will never let it go to someone else. I don’t look at t dog or acknowledge it. It’s a disgusting thing that lives in my house.
I don’t know what to do.
Point blank. It’s a crappy dog. It destroys things when we talk so it thinks it’s a leader. I hate it.

My dad has a theory that most "reserve dogs" are just people's family pets that city folks collect and take from indigenous peoples.

Fairly sure the moment you step out of your car on Stoney land they shoot you.

I'm sorry.
Genuinely. It's super hard to have a difficult dog. I see people on my security camera who are walking their dogs in the middle of the night because they are afraid of what happens when that dog encounters other people or dogs.
I've been there.
One of the hardest decisions I've ever made was to give up that dog. I felt like a failure.
In hindsight it was also 100% the correct choice for me and my family, and if anything I should have done it sooner. Life is hard enough without feeling an obligation to manage an animal who despite your best efforts won't be managed.
Sometimes it's just not a good fit.
Recognizing it's a family decision, I'd suggest sitting down with your wife and having a frank discussion about how it's impacting your quality of life.

Have it put down, dude. Pets are supposed to add to your life. If they aren't, ditch 'em. I've gotten rid of a ton of cats over the years. I feel nothing but relief whenever I do.
Seriously. Don't put up with another minute of this. Straight to the SPCA and then celebrate with some ice cream or a beer or something.
