Ricken is hands down the best part of everything. I loved how they're all trying to process the absolute madness of what happened in the season 1 finale, trying to determine if Mark's wife might be alive, but Ricken's big focus is that Mark's inny really seems to like him.

"I have to say Mark, he really is a jewel."

"Let's deal with what we know to be true. Mark's worky went to great lengths to awaken himself, to alert us to abuses, umm... he was inspired by my book. He found great meaning to it... profundity."

"Mark, will you help me hang the kelp?"

"Hang the kelp? Why?"

"Do you really want me to explain it?"

S2.3 is great. I don’t agree Severance is a slow burn (compared to Silo). Big events happen every episode.

Many connections - Cobel driving on the snowy roads is very Fargo.. Mark S., Helly R., Dylan G. - like Josef K. in The Trial.

Why is it always winter? But, some icicles were melting.

The goat farm - WTF? “Watch out for the poop.” “Show me your bellies.” I thought they were checking to see if they were born by imbelical cord.

Burning a message onto the retinas was a cool idea.

I think it is the presentation of the show and delivery of lines that makes people think this is a slow burn. Lots happens in the show and story, but there aren't car chases or gun fights.

It really is a well done show.

BTW, Silo is burning as fast as a campfire extinguished with piss.

Agreed. A lot of the shots/conversations are long (which is amazing cinematically) can feel slow to some people who are used to the 3 second cut averages we have now.

But the actual pacing of the events in the show are quite quick (see my spoiler above)

Silo is a great compotator. Slow as molasses without the casting/dialog/shots to make up for it at all.

Spoiler!

Just rewatch the first season and then the first 3 episodes of season 2. I loved season one but just not feeling season 2 so far. Kind of disappointing. Hopefully it will come around.

It's not always a slow burn. But IMO that comment was directed more towards season 1 than 2. Perhaps I'm defining slow burn differently than others.

The reason why I'd say it's often a slow burn because you move towards a point in the story, but when you get there, it's just more questions. Then without really resolving the build up, you just kinda roll it into the next idea and continue on.

It's kinda like the more answers you get, the more "huh?" it is vs "huzzah!".

I also agree that certain things progress very quickly. But again, IMO it's just kinda rolled into a newer and bigger idea and the momentum continues without a major bang or aha!

Don't get me wrong. I think the show is great. But unlike something like 3 body problem where they essentially have a lot of dialogue to pick up an idea and then conclude it definitively and move onto the next thing, I don't feel they conclude as many ideas in Severance. There are a lot less "dead ends" so to speak that I find typical in many thrillers. Severance just reveals a ton of stuff to what is being brought along on the main story path. As I mentioned it doesn't seemingly discard bits and pieces of the story easily. You can latch on the most innocuous thing and suddenly realize it's highly relevant later on. They've done a damn good job at that.

As much as they've revealed about Lumon, MDR, Petey, severed, the lives of innies/outies, very key questions from the very beginning are still ongoing and awaiting answers, or perhaps it's been revealed that the question posed is the wrong one. So pick up those clues and start over with a new question to see how the clues fit (ie: Season 2).

Add in the duality of everything such as Cobal/Selvig, Mark S/Mark Scout, Helly R/Helly Riggs etc. It's kinda insane how much more than normal can be condensed into such a small story space and how they and we can revisit and review certain known locations in the universe with new perspective. It's great. I just hope they don't accidentally kill the whole thing with plot holes.

I think it's because season 2 has been focusing on reframing and refocusing the story so far vs heavily progressing it. We're given a lot of new information, sure. But we as the viewer have no idea what to do with that information or what it means.

This can still just randomly take off in a single episode though. So it'll be interesting to see how it goes.

I thought this was going to be a slow burn episode and was a little bored early on, but damn did it ramp up quick. Innie Irv was a badass, hopefully we get to see him again

My Apple TV App says Feb 14.

Which for some reason means Feb 13 at 8pm MST.

According to this, new episodes today, Feb 14, Feb 21, Mar 7, Mar 14, Mar 21.

It'd suck if we somehow didn't get any eps until March 4.

My mistake - I was looking at season 1 episode dates in error.

S2.4 was another brilliant one/

The innies in black coats put me in mind of the Beatles in Help.

Episode 5 was a good reset episode after 3 and 4.

Some great quips; seeing the fallout between iMark and iHelly. iMark is understandably skittish at the whole thing.

Irv and Burt reunion was great.

Setting up for some good drama within Lumon (Helena, as well as Milchick)

Probably the weakest episode of this season (which is still a high bar) but its sort of a transition between episodes 3 and 4 to the finale set up over next few episodes.

Definitely, a weird, fresh and unusual show. Interesting to watch. But they’ve started so many sub-plots already, how can they bring them all to conclusion unless it goes on and on and on? So far, it’s only questions. Think about it, each character has a deep sub-plot that appears to be meaningful and important to the overall story. Goats? Belly buttons? Keir? Lumon? Kobel? The fat bearded guy who talks down to the corporate heir apparent? And we know almost nothing about them still. It’s been rumoured to cost $20M per episode to make. How long can they keep it going?

Brilliant show. Haven’t been this hooked on anything in ages and have been clearing my Friday nights.

Episode 5 felt like a big low point for the innies. Mark is demoralised, Hellie is violated and confused, Dylan is in mourning, and Irv is dead. Can only get better from here right?

I have a few theories about what MDR is doing, suspecting it had to do with mind control or reanimation related to controlling the four tempers. Also think we shouldn’t read too much into every detail as a lot of the show is poking fun at corporate life without any greater meaning.

Speaking of corporate life is anyone having trouble with work motivation after getting into Severance? I definitely am having trouble taking any office perks seriously. We are also going through lay offs at the moment and am seeing parallels between co workers you’ve gotten to know over the years immediately leaving your life and the innies basically dying when they lose their job.

I am currently struggling with whether the weekend retreat at Woe's Hollow actually happened in the real world or in a simulation of some sort... or if it even matters.

But I'm probably overthinking something that probably doesn't matter for the overall plot/theme of the series.
