That's doesn't sound like a very engaging driving experience at that price point.

If it had that nice Genesis v6 option with AWD, it be a hot seller.

I wish they'd stop this. I know the term is nebulous but that's a reason to stop using it unless we can actually define what it means besides "we made something that looks wagonish but don't want to call it a wagon so we're trying far too hard to make it seem cool".
My vote is that the term is discarded entirely, but if it MUST remain in use, a "shooting brake" only applies to a 2-door car with a hatchback tail opening and a large rear end, a la Volvo 1800ES. Otherwise, if you don't want to call your wagon a wagon, please just stick to "estate".
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I have mine set to blue and only noticed during this cold snap that when i turn up temp the ambient goes to red for 2-3 seconds and i assume turns blue when you put on AC

Outback is probably the best vehicle Subaru makes. It's a pretty average vehicle from front to back like most Subaru's but they have the raised wagon segment all to themselves.

RS6 Avant!
... And... that's about it. We do get the M5 touring soon, I guess?
There is always still Volvo. If I were looking for a brand new car I'd be looking hard at that V60 Recharge. If I were looking for a used car I might look at anV90 for longer trips, driving to the mountains, etc.

Yeah we live very different lives. That RS6 is gorgeous. Volvos are sick.
I have a VW sport wagon and I think it’s great but I’m certainly not bragging about it. Wish I had better options for actual wagons.

CVT’s are.
——————
While on the topic of transmissions, I’ve only had manuals last 20 years, all Volkswagen. (MQ350; 02M, 0FB..). Adding a second vehicle.
Been shopping for Powerstroke and Cummins, with ZF’s and G56. Any diesel guys on here, who love their manuals regret going auto? I like both, just the options are limiting. (Lots of rust, overpricing, etc).
My purchase criteria have been logical (3/4 or 1t) for my needs, the transmission choice is of course emotional.

If we marketed cars as 'saloons' and 'estates' in N.A. maybe they wouldn't have died off so much

Every iteration takes it closer and closer to a Ford Explorer:
2nd gen was peak. 3rd gen was good. 4th gen I'm not sure if I love it or hate it. I test drove a 5th gen and hated it. Current gen seems okay, but I dunno.
For me it should be an awesome winter highway car that doesn't totally suck off road, but it kinda feels like they have those priorities swapped

IMO, 'shooting brake' should only apply to two-door cars with a wagon-like rear. Ferrari FF, Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato 'Shooting Brake', BMW M Coupe (the clownshoe), and indeed the Volvo 1800 ES.
If you've added two more doors, you've got a wagon / estate, whether that's a traditional style or a more sport-wagon implementation like the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo.

I agree Forester and Outbacks are not head turners, they're meh. I think they're coming out with a new generation for Outbacks next year. I love the look of my 24 Crosstrek, hopefully the Outback is a huge improvement too.

The Sport Turismo is closer to a proper wagon.
The standard Panamera, for the size of it, has a shockingly small trunk/hatch. The floor in the trunk is relatively high and the sloping glass means there isn't much volume left for cargo. I remember having one as a loaner way back and we couldn't even get the small stroller in the trunk, let alone have room for anything else. But my god they're nice to drive and the higher trims are faster than they have any right being.

I quite liked the Panamera Sport Turismo version, but they unfortunately killed it starting with the MY2024 update. I suspect the Audi RS6 Avant was likely too attractive in performance for the money ($132k CAD for 621 HP) compared to the Porsche (~$200k for the same 621 HP out of the same 4.0L TT V8 engine).

Yeah, we still have our Sportwagen, too. It's such a great car. Mine is the base manual and damn has it ever been terrific. Boggles my mind they didn't sell enough and axed it. People are out of their minds to want a CUV over something like that.
Also annoyed at the lack of vans. I bought a super high mileage Ford Transit Connect a couple years ago basically on a lark. Had so much fun with it, but the lack of reliability due to it being a POS made me sell it. I outfitted the back into a party zone almost like a pillow pit so you could hang in it to pre-game before/during festivals/parties/whatever.
I would love to lease a new one for my business. In many ways they're a lot better than a truck. Discontinued a couple years ago, though. Again, I don't get why. Feels like they were everywhere. Perfect small delivery/work vans.

Oh mildly amusing story on the party transit connect. I had a Jeff Spicoli situation. We were at Parkland Summerfest and my friends and I hotboxed the van. Opened the door to come out and fricken Nenshi was there.
