Now I understand why Sutter chose not to have a captain on this team. They seem to be missing a real leader. Someone who can rally the troops game in and game out.

Sutters biggest mistake was not naming Backlund as soon as Gio left. Was a weird hole in the team for no reason.

For all my pissing and moaning, this team is way better than i ever suspected and a lot of that has to do with Mikael Backlund. (and Wolf, obvs)

You're right. Leadership is what this team lacks. We have all the top-line forward talent we need, AND the best top-four D in the league! Just get a leader to round it out.

I understand that they are having A LOT more fun than they’ve ever had since the captain was named. That’s what professional sports is all about after all

Title could use some work. So could OP. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A COMMENT IN THE PGT, NOT A WHOLE THREAD.

P.s. caps were accidental but I'm leaving em and calling it fate.

What point are you trying to make? This is just a list of names.

Wow, when you put it that way it is a 65% ish hit rate for actual NHL'ers. That's pretty damn good actually.

What was your point now?

The team isn’t doing better than expected. goaltending, is. There is no scoring. The defence is pathetic. The flames are a mushy middle team like they have been for 20 years. But often we get lucky and a star player shines.

Imagine if we didn’t have Wolf this season. Where would they be? Probably at the bottom where they should be. But no; we need to keep making a push for the playoffs; fall short and pick 18th overall. Rinse and repeat

But it’s not the fault of anyone. It just is what it is. But when Zary got injured, we started to see a bit of a decline in wins.

We lose 2 games against star studded teams and now we gotta strip Backlund off of Captain duhh. Thatll fix our issue. Didnt know u were apart of the locker room and know how the whole dynamic of the team works lol.

Lmao get a hobby

It's been a rough stretch with Flames facing teams ahead of them in the standings recently. Add the fact Zary/Bahl being injured what are you expecting? The Flames are in almost every game and putting as much effort as they can but when you look at the Flames they have half of their dmen that should be in the AHL (7/8). Even with how amazing Wolf has played against good teams they will capitalize given the chance.

So you think the only reason they are not at the bottom 'where they should be' is Wolf.

But somehow your conclusion is 'a mushy middle team like they have been for 20 years'.

Okay.

So trade Wolf so that we can get back to the bottom where we should be?
