Nope I'm not doing Zary 1 for 1 for Cozens.. Zary is about to pop (same with Coronato)

If you can make that happen, I'm 100% on board your train.

I am telling what Buffalo wants from the Flames. If Calgary isn't interested in moving Zary that is probably why insiders are saying the Flames don't have the pieces available Buffalo wants. Buffalo would also like Coronato but as Royle said he is pretty much untouchable. I am saying pretty much because the craziness I am eluding to is the Sabres trying to add Byram and other futures with Cozens to get Zary and Coronato included in the return and the counter being Dahlin instead of Byram which the Sabres won't entertain. I don't think anything comes of any of this personally but it was interesting to hear.

Exactly.

The reason they’re looking to trade him is because they may have broken him. Now they want to trade him for someone else’s new toy that’s shiny and new.

You don’t get what you don’t ask for, but still. Have some humility.

I wouldn’t be trading any of those guys.
I’d be shocked if Craig did honestly.
I’m not surprised that Buffalo wants though.
None of them are worth Cousins, all too valuable and likely end up better.

If the deal was centered around Cozens and Byram for Zary ++ I would be interested, assuming we kept Wolf, Coronato and Parekh that is.

I worry about Byrum.

Yes, he's talented, but I feel he is the kind of guy that could wreck the balance in the room.

Zary and Coronato are both very popular, and part of a tight group. Byrum is 23 and this would be his 2nd trade already. It just smells off to me.

I fear this would be like the Ference trade in 07 that destroyed the room. If you trade for trade's sake, sooner or later, team chemistry falls apart.

What could they even add that would be worth it? I guess they have some decent looking centre prospects but man the Flames would have to be confident in Cozens if they met Buffalo’s ask. Still don’t see it but the Flyers trade came out of nowhere

That's a good question. They do have some nice centre prospects but I don't think Conroy has any interest in moving Coronato unless it's too good to say no. Thus the switch Byram for Dahlin counter. I love Coronato and Zary but if you get Dahlin added to Cozens you start the car. Buffalo would be insane to do that though, Dahlin is a franchise D man.

Cozens and Byram for Anderson and Zary has some merit, awkwardly equal value wise. I

Rob Ray only had good things to say about Byram on BarnBurner. Not the final say on it but still someone who is close to the room.

I love Zary, Coronato, and Ras as much as anyone. But if we can get Cozens and Byram for any combo of these (and other pieces like picks or prospects not named Parekh) I would be down.

We missed out on Eichel, we missed out on Mark Stone (not a C but still). You gotta give to get and it’s not often someone like Cozens becomes available. Even if it’s a risk (because there’s always a risk whether you trade for a guy or keep the pieces that could have landed said guy).

Thanks Diss, entertaining to say the least. Imagine a scenario where Dahlin and Cousins are in flames silks. That would be insane.

Ideally we could keep Coronato because he’s a right shot right wing

Dahlin Weegar
Bahl Anderson
Bean Parekh
Solovyov

Cozens is not an Eichel level talent.

In fact many Sabres fans believe that Cozens is better served playing the wing. He does not have the “hockey IQ” or playmaking ability to be a dominant offensive driver.

Dahlin is the last player Buffalo will trade.

I'd prefer the Flames to take their chances on Zary and The Bison. I want Cozens but not at that ask. I get it from Buffalos perspective but the Flames aren't in a position to swap young assets out the door.

Now somehow finding a piece to bring in that Buffalo would want while using a veteran, I'm all for it.

The parameters of a Cozens acquisition have to be for the Flames to add to their youth group they already have. I'd also prefer moving an excess 1st in a deal to acquire a RHS center in the age group.

You know, with the young centers they do have, Zegras seems like a decent risk/reward acquisition they could afford to take a shot on now that they have Frost in the fold. And the Ducks are looking for futures I think I've read somewhere.

It's a tough one. The Flames have a lot of very good wingers coming, but the C prospect pool is completely barren. You'd have to be sure that Cozens would excel after leaving Buffalo though, before moving the likes of Zary or Coronato.
