Edmonton to finally get toilets

Toilets on the street. Outdoor urinals to be exact.

Edmonton to put open-air urinals near Whyte Ave.

Edmonton plans to put freestanding public urinals near Whyte Avenue at night to give drunken revellers a place to relieve themselves along the popular nightclub stretch.

The temporary urinals will be put out at night and taken off the streets by morning.



I think this is a good idea. Calgary has plans to do the same I have read.

Sure. Been there, done that. If women peeing was sucha big concern, they wouldn't be urinals, no? Why would the city waste it's money on something that won't even solve the problem? I've NEVER seen a female pee on the street/alley/sidewalk in the 8 years I've lived in this city. I have however seen men peeing right on TD Square a number of times... in the middle of the day. When the public washrooms are still open.

That would be EXTREMELY nerve-racking.

And the other thing is, why would you design a public toilet like this? I think it's a great idea, but would be fairly expensive, no?

I've seen far to many guys piss wherever the hell they want too (DIRTY PIGS), and never seen a girl... but what makes them thing that these dirt bags will use them?? they won't use the public washrooms that are right infront of them but will use these??

actually their site claims just that. Step three in the shewee process:

"3. Once relieved, pull funnel away and use to wipe any final drips. Shake
funnel. Replace in resealable bag. "

Ew. So let me get this straight... I've peed in the thing, I've used it to wipe myself (it's probably already wet since I've just peed in it) and then they want me to shake it off and put it back in a bag in my purse? Um, no. There are other concerns I have with this device but they probably aren't appropriate to discuss on the site here, so I'll just leave it at "not this chicka, not until they get it right. I'd like disposable, not resealable."
