It's the second game in a couple weeks where the team was sitting around waiting in Calgary, while the Flames were actually on the road playing another game.
Happened with the Capitals game too.
Capitals played in Vancouver the Saturday and were waiting in Calgary to play the games on Tuesday, while the Flames had to go from Minnesota on Saturday to Winnipeg on Sunday before coming back home.

Just hoping that Calgary scores 3 or 4 quick to silence the meatheads at the Dome tonight. It is always the worst game of the season in terms of fan support. I always find it embarrassing that it seems like a Leafs home game. Hopefully everyone dressed in blue and white goes home with a tear in their eyes.

2. Levshunov - too early to write him off but never thought he had the same level of upside.
3. Sennecke - tough. Might take him over Zayne
4. Lindstrom - too many injuries. Take Zayne
5. Demidov - looks fantastic. Probably take him
6. Iginla - winger. Take Zayne.
7. Yakemchuk - Just not as good as Zayne. Take Zayne
8. Catton. Centre which matters but probably a 2nd line centre. Take Zayne
And then you hae Silayev, Dickinson and Buium in play after Zayne. I take Zayne over Silayev and Dickinson (stats are impressive but I just don't think offense comes nearly as naturally to him) but not necessarily Buium. But Buium has signability concerns perhaps.
So i think I would place Zayne at #5ish with Macklin, Demidov, Sennecke and Buium/Levshunov maybe ahead of him.
|
My list would be similar. For Zayne, so much is going to come down to how his game translates at pro level. His stats piling up was almost a foregone this year. I'd like to see him make another Mem cup run, but his conditioning and defensive game development would also be a big part of how he'd turn into a successful pro.
His ceiling is maybe 2 or 3 from his draft year, but the floor is lower than a lot of the other top 10 picks, IMO.

Yeah. Sounds about right. Still really like Iginla and Catton as well. Lindstrom will be a wild card from that draft. His injury could potentially derail his development which was already going to be a long one because he was one of the youngest in the draft and because prospects with his style of play (skilled, physical power forward) tend to take longer to reach their potential (Byfield is a good example).

They should make it a rule that they have to stay in Edmonton when there is a gap like that. Make the other team miserable and questioning their life decisions.

Thought I read/heard they hoped Bahl would be back before the break. Maybe we see him Thursday?

Conny was just on one of the afternoon Sports shows and suggested both Bahl and Zary would likely be back after the break.

Yeah not calling up Solovyov or Kuznetsov with Bahl hurt feels like a bit of a miss.
Seemed like the perfect opportunity to give a young guy a look.

I’m disappointed to see Barrie back so soon, Miromanov has such better defending capabilities I hope the Leafs don’t exploit the 3rd pairing.

I'm astonished we're not DFL.
The answer to your question however....howls at the Moon.

If I were to guess, we're putting guys with more offensive upside in - Conroy's been saying that we need secondary scoring badly
