my old English teacher would have had a field day with Spiritbox. Not musically obviously, but in terms of the symbolism, their use of colours and stuff like that. Really like how they are sticking to the album's theme with all the black/white imagery and the lyrics too.
Sick song, no notes. March 7 can't come soon enough.
They check a lot of boxes for me. I've always been partial to metal bands that try new things within the genre, and EC's mix of techno and metalcore is fantastic. I also like that they're not afraid to have fun, so many metal bands (and fans) take themselves way too seriously
I'm making my was down the EC rabbit hole from the early stuff with Sushi as their vocalist (Ghostkid now], and then to Nico and their popular stuff and came across their song Mindreader and it may be my favorite song of theirs. As you said not afraid to try something new and not take themselves super serious.

I've had both of these bands on my imaginery "to watch"-list for a while since they haven't released a full album yet, so I'll happily take a collaboration like this (minus the snakes).
We're definitely in the golden age of female fronted metal.
yeah it's awesome. I was surprised when I realized just how much of the music I listen to regularly is female-fronted these days, it's become more and more these past few years.
I'll see Spiritbox live this Saturday, then Ankor and Conquer Divide a week later. Good times.
just saw Spiritbox live. Absolutely amazing, go see them if you can. They opened with an unreleased song from the upcoming album called "Fata Morgana", can't wait to hear it on record. Courtney sounded fantastic, but I can't understate what the addition of Josh Gilbert has done for them ... those backing vocals and harmonies add so much.
funniest thing were several Poppy chants before the set and a number of "We love you, Poppy" signs lol.

I'm still waiting for Spiritbox to come to Calgary. Poppy as well for that matter.
new Architects album is solid. I didn't like their last two records, but this one is decent, even beyond the strong singles. Nothing groundbreaking, but a solid and well-produced (Jordan Fish FTW) metalcore album.

Is it me or has their music become a little too much Sirius Octane over the last few albums? I understand bands trying to reach a larger audience but save for a handful of songs it seems a little disposable.

no I think that's fair. I think their previous two albums were pretty weak and bland, so I'm a bit surprised how much I like this one. Not everything sticks, but there's enough quality and variety to keep me interested.
Yeah it's a bummer for sure as he's a talented guitarist. I think he's going to back to his roots and focus more on rock/country stuff. He was also kind of volatile and high maintenance so maybe the band will be more focussed and united without him.
