Which makes me wonder if that's the next easter egg he's alluding to pushing. Canadian banks that do business south of the border, if they'll be pushed out.

Ok well guess what, we didn't do any of that. I agree to your points, but again, we didn't do those things we should have. So are we going to continue beating that drum like we always do? How about we do our typical Canadian thing and start fighting each other for next couple of years of what we SHOULD HAVE done. Lets make it even more typical Canadian and go debate about it in our House of Commons and blame this party, that party, should have done this should have done this.
Point is, we didn't do jack ####. That attitude hasn't helped us clearly. So how about we start thinking of ways to better ourselves right now and for the future instead of this toxic Canadian behaviours of constantly living in the damn past. Im sick of it. These comments are a waste of breath and time. You're stating the obvious. Give me solutions how it doesn't happen again and we can improve starting tomorrow. Change this damn outright pathetic, sorry for ourselves mentality and starting doing something.

That TD Bank money laundering case in the US probably doesn't help very much. They were fined $1.8B late last year.

I think this 51st-state crap is a ruse. He’d never make Canada a state. We’d be a territory like Puerto Rico. He’d steal our resources and abandon us in all meaningful ways.

I'd love to.
But we have designed a system and a society that is so heavily bureaucratic that large Capital projects are a rarity and...we dont get along. That kind of enmity doesn't disappear overnight.
I hope, I truly do, that this lights a uniting fire under Canadian asses! I'm just not optimistic about it.

Trump this morning: "I look at some of these trade deals and I say, who the hell made these deals?"
You did, you dumb f***.
Also, he once again reiterated that Canada should become the 51st state.

I'm still chuckling at this...but man, you needed an exclamation mark there.

Do you think that is a positive or negative? I obviously don't want actions against Canada because of it, but I'm not sure that I want the PM cozying up to Trump either.

Okay so quick check but I’m seeing Canada’s NATO spend as about 1.37% GDP or roughly 34B. They want us at 2% which is a little over $50B. Delta of like $16B let’s call it.
Meanwhile the tariff threat according to Financial Post is supposed to entirely wipe out GDP growth forthcoming and cost estimates of 3.4-3.7% GDP (call it $85B).
Not clear anywhere why it takes so long to ramp up spending on defence so not sure on that or why it must take to 2032 the way the feds are saying (I’m sure there’s some reason just not sure how much of it is bull####).
So if we promise to ramp the $15B spend to avoid $85B hit and actually honour what we actually already committed to anyway, does that get the tariffs removed?

I'd bet my left testicle on "no".
