White House describes that Canada has “misunderstood” this as a trade war. Trumps spoke with Trudeau and appears to speak with him again at 3PM.

The markets are taking it in the teeth this morning....that could be a way bigger wake up for Trump and crew than any retaliatory measures Canada could apply.

The only reason it's not worse is they think there's a chance he might cancel them before they're implemented tomorrow.

Could be a 10% down week if they go into effect tomorrow.

I've come to this realization too. Humanity has proven ourselves way too selfish to prevent this from occurring. We may as well just get it over with and leave the planet to the cockroaches or whatever else survives. We don't deserve to live here.

Human nature has made it clear that adapting to adversity is far more likely than proactively preventing it. Greed is the driving force of humanity, and if you can steal from the future to get more, you do it. Even if it's your kids, you will mentally justify it. That's just the reality that has emerged. All humans aren't that way, but the vast majority are.

Mexico avoiding tariffs for a month anyways, likely increasing speculation that Canada's tariffs are dropped as well.

I still think there is damage done, if US drops tariffs I am still going to be checking labels and buying canadian/mexican groceries where I can, at least until Trump is out of office.

A miracle has happened. A trump supporter on my street (Indian immigrant, no less) has this dumb jacked up Dodge Ram plastered in political and #### Trudeau stickers, but also had a few Trump MAGA 2024 stickers on the back. Also parked in a super-classy location right in front of a daycare most days. Given the tariff situation, I figured it was only a matter of time before someone slashed his tires or broke a window. Drove by yesterday and magically all the Trump stickers have been removed. Still has the Trudeau stickers, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the MAGA crap gone.

Has he seen the light, or was this simply him being afraid of vandalism to his vehicle? Did his coworkers at his job site threaten him with harm, or did he realize Trump is the con artist he's always been?

I guess I'll never know.

I haven't seen the delay for Canada, but that would be great.

I’m already seeing major impacts at work due to all this. A delay would be good, but still a complete joke. The uncertainty is causing so many problems.

Absolutely 100%, this is my concern too. Billionaires and rich people can absolutely leave room for a healthy and thriving middle and upper middle class, the creation of jobs and lower market prices for everyone to thrive in, all while avoiding a (what I suspect is a coming) revolution, and can still be the wealthiest people on the planet. But they just want a little more, and one day it will be their undoing.

Greed is a powerful drug.

Well, knowing how Trump loves the maximum chaos, he probably doesn't pause for Canada. I mean, we all know this isn't actually about border security, right? How in the world you could pause for Mexico on that side and not just outright cancel the tariffs on Canada is beyond me.

The Mexico pause and no pulling the tariffs on Canada makes me think Trump actually wants Canada as an US territory

It’s about making Canada the 51st state. Pretty obvious. Everything else is nonsense.
