I saw him on the list, (the PuckPedia list). It would depend on the contract, but I’m assuming he’ll get a long-term, big-money contract, and I decided I didn’t want the Flames to do that given Bennett’s age next season, 29 years old. That was my reasoning.

Oh yes Nyquist, Zucker, Palmieri, and Donato all deserve to be listed ahead of Bennett.

Just pointing out the hockey writers articles are no better than a run of the mill drive by post on CalgaryPuck

We already have enough young D coming up, but we have to stock the cupboards by drafting centers.
Not winning 2024 lottery really messed things up.

I blame myself for not manifesting the nephew to us hard enough.

I have been thinking now that we have gotten rid of some of our excess forwards for better aged one, who is the Farabee/Frost of LHD out there? Especially after the Bahl injury but even before that I see a top 4 who can play with Weeger as holding us back from playoffs (loosing an 11-16th overall pick). My preference would be better defensively than Miramanov but also better than Hanley. Anyone of the following would be up for trade; Miramanov, Solovyov, Kuznetsov, Poirier, Ciona, Bell, Kerins.

Mario Ferraro is kind of an underrated top 4 LHD that kind of fits that narrative.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Conroy has spoken with the Sharks about him.

He's average 22 minutes per game over the last 5 seasons a 300+ games

This season and next at $3.25 million and then UFA

26 years old

Well you have 5 years to Manifest R.J.

If he progression keeps going and he has anywhere near the drive of Macklin he’ll be a top end prospect

Thanks, yes, my mistake was forgetting to list Frost, in my list of RFAs.

Edit: I see now that my previous post had bad wording. I meant I include Frost in the list of players, whom I want the Flames to focus on re-signing, because Frost is an RFA.

Underated in that he is one of the absolutely worst defenseman in the entire NHL and has been over the entire course of his career?

Let’s do it, sign Rantanen this summer.

Huby-Kadri-Rantanen
Zary-Frost-Coronato
Farabee-Backlund-Coleman
Honzek-Sharky-Pospisil

Might be deepest offensive line flames have had since the 80s.

When they sign Makar in a couple years their D will look like:

Weegar - Makar
Bahl - Andersson
Mews - Parekh

Wolf

That is definitely a contender. Fingers crossed haha.

If Market Value for Rantanen is 14M the Flames would have to pay 18 to get him to come here to a small cold Canadian market in the middle of a rebuild.

If the Rangers look to add again, maybe they would listen for an offer on K'Andre Miller.

Big defender with skill who looks like a change of scenery may do wonders for him. Flames could take the entirety of his contract (almost 4 mil) without sending back any cap thus providing more room for them to add where needed.

If he signed here, the rebuild would be over.

Flames should - and will - be in on any legitimate difference maker that hits the UFA or the trade block. This team will need difference makers. Tough to attract on the UFA market, but they still have to go after them.

The key would be not buying the 'filler' players that they have done for the last decade. There are enough prospects and young players in the system, that enough of them have a floor of everyday NHLer. They should only add impact players, whether that's top line offensive or crushingly efficient defensive players. High end, or don't do it.

If Flames managed to get Rantanen and Makar, our window would open just as the greaser's was starting to close. HAHA

That would be a deep team.
