I see so many people posting online that they are outraged at what Trump is doing. But I have not heard of any protests in the US? I guess the Tariffs haven't actually hit, and Trump is the evil one. But I guess I find it a bit weird that the other side of the country is just going to idly stand by and accept a dictator destroying their nation.

Donald Trump has that country in such a mess in one week it's hard to keep up. Some people are focused on keeping their family members in the country, there are huge ICE protests in California. Elon Musk is in the midst of a non-elected coup, the country is in such a tizzy over multiple events that the tariff thing might not even be on the radar. It's hard to believe that one of the most successful and long standing democracies is on the verge of collapsing into a totalitarian regime. For the majority it's impossible to wrap their heads around that.
You see posters even in this thread that want to bury their head in the sand and go "live your life" as if what's happening won't directly impact theirs and everyone else life.

Do any of us truly "know" what effect it'll have on the economy? I say this because our information is from the talking heads as well. If I elected him, I'd think he's trying to help American people. That's all they'd be seeing right now. They're generally not one to fight through the rhetoric in their media. Scream "USA USA!" and that's music to their ears.

The impact on Canadian companies who export/sell to themselves in the US is astronomical. This is not good for anyone.

I said that about not going around policing what people do with the money you trade them for their goods and services.
Trump started it and made it horrible for us, then Trudeau made it horrible for Canadians. Granted, to a lesser extent. All I hear about is orange juice, alcohol, and appliances. It’s a circular firing squad and it seems only China is smart enough to avoid a knee jerk reaction.

Maybe I'm just assuming the average American is smart enough to know how a tariff works.
You'd have to be brain dead to think there would be no negative economic impact on both counties.

Then an eastern network from Ottawa and Montreal to the east coast. This should have been done decades ago.
The Windsor-Quebec corridor is developed properly but they refused to invest in connecting the country because it is expensive. Well, it’s cheaper now than it ever will be, and look what can happen.

Even if he reverses the Tariffs tomorrow, the damage is done.
I do not trust Trump as an ally whatsoever.

I've seen a few in California but definitely not very popular. Much more popular in Canada and in the Rockies (Utah/Colorado.)

My guess is that Trump will ultimately back down and spin it as a win for the states. He’s likely manipulated the market and somehow positioned himself for an insider advantage.

He telegraphed it by crowing about it for weeks after the election. I don’t know what people were expecting.

Not at all.
China's economy dwarfs Canada's and they are an ocean away from America.
