Honestly, if we're willing to put in the effort and work together as one country, this could be a "Golden Age" for Canada.

This looks like complete BS. Don't support US products, shop at Wal-Mart? Canada Dry is owned by Keurig, a US company headquartered in Massachusetts. I wouldn't follow this.

American anthem booed last night in Ottawa and today at the Raptors game.

Good.

So I work for a very American company that owns only Canadian assets. As I get angrier I ponder. Trumpy previously Energy guys are actually not happy with this at all.

What other potential things (even ridiculous) could happen.
- Sieze assets of American owned enterprises?
- Prevent cash being moved? Previous company has a Russian partner and were not alllowed to move cash there and had to be hold cash in trust.
- force additional visa requirements for citizens, like if you were North Korean for just visiting.
- tax 100% American held property in Canada?
- stop CRA IRS cooperation. I know our banks give info to the US. Why I took my wife’s name off all our bank accounts.

Just pondering

Not a good showing. Some of what he said was right. A lot of it mirrored what Trudeau said better yesterday.
I've liked PP's campaigning against Trudeau and thought he nailed JT and the libs on a number of issues, but that speech was brutally written and delivered. Kind of exposed him as a one trick (one rhetoric) pony. Going back to the same talking points around a different, pressing issue was a big miss. Maybe JT really does complete him.

Trudeau schooled him here in their respective responses to the announcement.

That is great, and secondary check is to make sure it's not from America.

Yeah this list needs to be scrutinized a bit more before wide adoption.

Weird that righty and lefty folks on twitter are uniting. Not just righties saying trumps garbage or lefties admitting our environmental nonsense helped get us here.

Maybe the Trump is the grinch and he will finally bring us together! Our hearts grew three sizes yesterday. Haha.

There was a bit of booing after the anthem was completed, but it seemed like most people held off booing during it. I'm not supportive of booing anthems in general, but holding off until the end it at least more respectful to the person singing. I personally don't think national anthems are appropriate for opening club sporting events in the first place. Like if it wasn't something that already happens, would anyone think it's a great idea? My guess is not many.

It's a well studied phenomenon in social psychology.

Competing outgroups will pretty reliably set aside differences when pressed by a larger threat that affects both groups.

This has happened countless times throughout history. Usually in times of war.

Thankfully this is just an economic war. But it's cool to see the effect is the same.

My righty family members have walked back their prior support of a Trump presidency too. Funny how when a situation can affect you directly you approach it through a very different lens (aka take off the goof goggles).

The predictability of people brings me both a sense of certainty but also makes me sad. Each generation seems to have to re-learn the same mistakes prior generators made and very sternly forewarned us of.

I think this is pretty good, but probably more of an orange tint is needed...

Is that the one where the back ramp occasionally opens up unexpectedly in mid-air? Tough to determine if that is a flaw or a feature.

Ragarding Tim Horton's being Canadian or American, does it really matter? It seems like it where they actually source there their products from should be more important.

FWIW, Tim Horton's was "repatriated" back into Canada at a corporate level as it is owned by the Toronto based Restaurant Brands Inc. (RBI), although 3G, a Brazilian company owns a large stake in it as well. The same corporation that also now owns Burger King and Popeye's Chicken. So if Tim Horton's is Canadian, are those two also considered Canadian? Ultimately, they are all owned by shareholders and I bet most of them are American anyway. But then again, I don't think it matters.

If a company is American owned, but is dedicated to using Canadian sourced products, I would support it over a Canadian company that uses American products. But that is where it gets tricky, because how do you even find out that information?
