In my opinion the CHL is going to die out with the NCAA agreement and the dwindling number of Canadians playing minor hockey. Most of them will never play in the NHL, so might as well get a free education.

Could be a sneaky good top-4. I also think some of the Wranglers will be able to push for a spot next year, but not sure you would want two rookies together on the bottom pair.

I read on HF (gross i know) that Yakemchuk has 39 pts on the season so Parekh scored 50% of Yaks season pt total in 6 games and 66% of his goals. He is on quite the tear.

The knock against Yak was always him playing on a team where he was the older veteran soaking up all minutes. He played like a forward a lot of the time. He never had the offensive ceiling that the other guys had.

To a degree yes, but I see him being an elite level defense first NHLer.

He wont be completely void of offense either but he will be so good on the other side of the game.

All that said....Parekh is likely to have a bigger impact...and Im there to eat it up!

I would prefer Parekh go to the AHL next season as it would be best for his development. Reminds me of the Bennett situation where he was rushed to the NHL due to CHL rules.

If the rules do not change this off-season, I see the same top 4 as you in 25/26.

I don't know how/when we expect other prospects to break into the league, but the top 4 looks set for a while if Anderson is re-signed.

Also he can't play in the AHL next year either, he's still too young, you have to turn 20 before Jan 1st or have 4 years in the CHL, he wouldn't reach either requirement.

That also means he is eligible for the WJC next season too. Something tells me Hockey Canada has their tail between their legs and Parakh will be one of the first invites and locks next season.

Parekh should definitely be competing for a spot on the Flames next season. If not, I feel it would be the AHL or the NCAA for him, as I doubt it would be the best for his development to go back to the OHL and dominate it yet again, only this time as one of the older players. I would prefer NHL - AHL - NCAA - Europe - Swedish or Finnish leagues (which is very unlikely to happen of course, but surprised more high-end prospects don't do this for a season like Mathews did).

Then the NHL or Europe are the only options available to him under current agreements/rules between leagues.

Yakemchuk currently can't even defend at a high level at the the WHL level. It's no coincidence that he's the only minus defensemen on a team with a +48 goal differential. He certainly doesn't project to be a top tier defensive player in the NHL barring a massive shift in his approach to the game. He's pretty much been a PP specialist this year with 58% of his total points coming with the man advantage.
