If it wasn't Trump, eventually it be someone else, or some other country. I really hope this is a wake up call to every Canadian that the course of complacency, apathy, and atrophy we've been on the last ten years cannot continue. Please.

Hah - someone asking him to end prorogation and get Parliament back to help the country. Answer: nope. In fairness I'm not 100% clear on what additional benefit that would offer, though.

You know eastern Canada gets its Canadian oil through a pipeline that runs through the US.
Let them freeze in the dark, as they say.
Would expedite other options. When there was an energy crisis in the 60s and 70s it spurned the largest energy infrastructure shift in history. Hydroelectric, nuclear, an attempt to gain energy independence despite Alberta's objections.
Don't let a crisis go to waste. We can choose to whine about how it wasn't built 10 years ago, or push to get the stuff built now.

I mean...if there's no benefit to having our house of government actually operating at a time like this then why do we even have it? It's prorogued purely to serve the interests of the Liberal party.

The journalists are actually asking some tough questions too, instead of lofting softball q's.
Crises tend to evoke concerted efforts from people.
If there's any silver linings to any of this.
I think our prov/fed governments have put on their critical thinking caps for the first time in a long time. And actually had meaningful/productive conversations with one another.
Nothing solves differences between groups faster and more effectively than a larger, looming external threat.
Not looking forward to the economic pain (growing pains) to come, but looking forward to seeing unity again in very segregated and disjointed nation.

Agree, for appearance get back, but the life losers that are the folks in parliament aren’t going to solve much.
I hope they get our power trader experts in on discussions where we are interconnected.
Brown out California after the fires would be nice.

well it would be interesting hear PeePee twisting in the wind on the issue
I'm hopeful that ultimately it becomes less Canada vs US but more Fascism vs Democracy (we're already seeing loyalties erode in this thread).
I know we have lots of allies down there... but they aren't doing enough yet.
They couldn't even go out to vote (63.9% voted for what was supposedly a vote to save democracy), why would we assume they would care about Canada when they could not even save themselves?

Not a Trudeau fan but he did a great job tonight trying to unite the country. Whether you like him or not, hard not to respect the fact that he began the rally cry for Canadian nationalism and defended our sovereignty. Job well done.

I don't think that the vast majority of Americans understand the full extent of what is coming next week. There seems to be surprisingly little news coverage of the tariffs and the impact. It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out down there.
