With Kerins getting a permanent number, I wonder if Ronney is gone soon.

Or is that just because Farabee wanted it?

Ronney has not switched his number.

The Islanders are going to be the team to watch. They just picked up three defensemen. Pelech's NTC kicks in on July 1st. Mayfield has been rumored in play. Nelson is UFA and likely to move.

I could see Nelson to Vancouver and NYI getting Raty + back.

Agreed and some continually speak in absolutes because they think they know more than anyone else possibly ever could.

Anyone else hear any rumours that we’re going to pursue Rantanen in free agency? Haven’t heard this from any reputable sources of course.

Haven't seen any media mention it, but it's easy to see the argument.

If Frost, Zary, Coronato and Bahl are signed for a total of $20M (or less), that would leave $15M (or more) for the final 3 spots - Could easily sign Rantanen. And if you did, the forward group would look pretty good.

Huberdeau - Zary - Rantanen
Farabee - Frost - Coronato
Sharangovich - Kadri - Pospisil
Honzek? - Backlund - Coleman
Lomberg / Klapka

Signing Rantenan is an all in move and indicates that the "retool" is over and we're fully set on being competitive now.

Interesting if that's the plan.

Definitely not what everyone would have expected.

Personally I'm torn. Not sure if Rantenan is the guy we should do that for.

If they are going to do that it needs to be a centre
But I don’t think there’s a strong ufa centre this year

Flames seem to have everything cooking for them going forward, except for elite forwards, more specifically elite centers.

Getting one at the top of the draft isn't going to happen, the team is good enough to keep them from drafting that high, especially with Wolf.

Rantanen is an elite forward, not really a center though, although I read that he does play center sometimes. It could work.

As long as they don't start hemorrhaging draft picks like the past regimes, I'm happy to see them make the team better even it means signing elite players as UFA's.

I am not sure Leslie put it across as a real rumour, but more of a possibility. I think very few teams wouldn't table an offer to Rantanen's camp if he goes UFA. Leslie spoke about Conroy being able to go big game hunting this off-season after talking about Rantanen, so I think it was really just an example that came across as a rumour - at least that's how I interpreted that conversation with Kyper and Bourne.

He was on Millers side in this fiasco.
Boeser’s name also out there.
Then you’ve Hughes who could also depart, not happy right now.

It’s just a tire fire in Vancouver… still.
That room is absolutely shattered.
Great, just wait till oilerfans start trying to take credit for the canucks down fall because they beat them in the playoffs the year before.

Friedman just said all of Andersson, Weegar and Kadri are unavailable. Not surprising

No way you do the Frost/Farabee trade and then trade away any of those guys. That would make no sense at all. They’re gunning for the playoffs now.

Friedman also said the Flames are getting more and more confident that they will be able to re-sign Andersson

Many teams will be after Rantanen. If he makes it to UFA, HE’ll be one of the better players ever getting to UFA.

Remind me of 14-15 then going all in too quick. I understand we do have some key foundational pieces like Wolf but signing Rantanen scares me lol.
