Flames GM Craig Conroy hits home run on trade with Flyers: 'I'm excited'

Craig Conroy can finally walk the streets of Calgary without being accosted.

Following a very lengthy search for a 23 to 25-year-old centre his club could grow with, the Calgary Flames' patient general manager pulled the trigger on a shockingly attractive deal Thursday night that should help the team now and down the road.

“I think this fills a couple holes that I've been trying to find since the draft last year, and it hasn't been easy,” smiled the Flames GM, looking relaxed and confident his late-night deal serves several purposes.

Who are Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost? Meet the Flames’ trade additions

Here’s all you need to know about the additions, complete with scouting reports from general manager Craig Conroy and head coach Ryan Huska …

Looking back on the Elias Lindholm trade one year later

On Thursday night, the Calgary Flames made a sizeable deal with the Philadelphia Flyers.
They sent Jakob Pelletier, Andrei Kuzmenko, their 2025 second-round pick, and their 2028 seventh-round pick for Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee. The latter scored 22 goals and 50 points last season and has eight goals and 19 points through 50 points, while the former scored 19 goals and 46 points in 81 games in 2022-23 and has 11 goals and 25 points this season.

A Flame from the Past: Ric Nattress

Do you remember Ric Nattress?
Every week, we’ll look at a forgotten Calgary Flames player in the weekly series “A Flame From the Past.” Of course, the player had to have played a significant number of games for the Flames – at least a full season.

Win tonight and you most likely kill off everyone but the canucks. They are self imploding.

Excited about this one. I donr know why but this eerily makes me feel like when we brought in 2 players in 04
Ville Neimenen and Marcus Nilson.

Its a strange feeling i cant explain other than theres excitement.

Before the season people questioned this team. Wolf was too small . We would suck and have zero reason to be mentioned in any conversations but yet here we are.

Damn. I love this underdog role. Fly under the radar and just do your thing ....back jnto the playoffs , take down divison champs , conference chumps and end up shocking the world with a trip to the dance.

Hardest path to Scf final but hmmmm.....can history repeat itself ?

Go Flames GO. Welcome to The Flames Beezer and Frosty .... show us what you got

Can’t wait to see the additions and how Huska chooses to use them. Hopefully both Farabee and Frost can figure out the ‘system’ quickly as Detroit is a threatening team currently and the Flames have been the most cohesive we’ve seen them so far. Go Flames!

Did Farabee and Frost play on the same line much in Philly?

EDIT - Dobber’s says no.

No but Craig says their best buds . Even better. Heard from some great things about leadership skills of Farabee. Kid is smart, tough, determined and doesn't back down from anyone.
Fought Marcus Foligno as a 19 year old. Has a bit of a mean streak like Bennett but doesn't cross the line as much but his defensive game lacks which is why Tortz had him on a short leash.

Hopefully Huska doesn't allow his game to be 1 dimensional and sends a message fast like he has with certain. Players here.

They did play on the PP occasionally but I’m hoping to see

Huberdeau - Kadri - Farabee
Sharangovich - Frost - Coronato

PP
Farabee - Kadri - Coronato
Weegar - Huberdeau

Coleman - Frost - Sharangovich
Barrie - Andersson

I cant believe this team is fighting for a playoff spot. Playoffs? We talkin' playoffs?

We shipped everyone out. We were supposed to be competing for the DFL Cup!

If both Frost and Farabee play tonight they would be the 20th, and 21st Forwards to play for the Flames this season! It's absolutely amazing what this team has accomplished with all the changes upfront.

I'm excited to see the new players. I really want to see Huberdeau on a line with Frost, and Sharangovich/Coronato but I guess we'll see. Most likely Farabee will get the first crack at playing on the Huberdeau Kadri line.

I guess that means I'll have to wake up at 5am on a Sunday to watch this one live instead of watching a recording. Go Flames Go!

Win and loss by LA would put flames 3rd in the division. Let’s go!!!!!

I'm gonna take a wild stab and guess Pospisil back with Huberdeau and Kadri, Farabee and Frost with Sharangovich.
