Yeah I just thought it was kind of a funny juxtaposition.
I hope it’s not Outlaws so they don’t step on our horsey and cowboy imagery.

I thought it up half-jokingly, but it's actually pretty good. Unique and slightly oddball.

Their goal song could be "Yakety Yak."

That'd be their mascot. Yakety Yak, who doesn't talk back.
Yakety Sax (Benny Hill Theme) would be a great goal song.
(I found out there's already a college baseball team called the Utah Yaks.)

And their logo is an H inside a C, no less.
Which could make for a different kind of trademark problem if Utah tried to keep ‘HC’ permanently.

Not a fan of Outlaws. That doesn’t put as much fear into anyone as the “Inlaws are coming to town!” does.

I don't mind Outlaws. It does play into the history of the state and there could be some cool logo possibilities. The only thing I don't like about it is how it sounds. It's just too vowel heavy when you say it along with the state's name, like it doesn't flow off the tongue. When the first word ends in a vowel sound and the following one starts with a vowel sound, it just doesn't sound good to me.
What about something like Bandits? Similar concept, but to me it just sounds better when you combine it with Utah.

It isn't just you. Poets all over the English-speaking world have been trying to avoid those combinations for hundreds of years. (In the Romance languages, they just slur the two vowels together into one syllable.)
I agree, ‘Utah Bandits’ rolls off the tongue a lot better than ‘Utah Outlaws’.
