Pelletier’s attitude combined with his skill set likely result in him being the best player in the deal in the long run, but Farabee has already acclimated to the league and adds something the Flames wouldn’t have for the remainder of the season that Pelletier would not. This helps them pushing for the playoffs.

This is the kind of deal the Flames can afford to make, they have a number of prospects on LW so a player like Pelletier will have to move out at some point. I doubt either of these guys add much value after a couple of years, but given the prospect barn the Flames are constructing they can afford to make some deals that meet short term needs.
I really liked Pelletier but in no way does he shape up to be the best player in the deal in the long run. He’s got a great work ethic and attitude, and he’s smart. But his skill isn’t there.

Definitely not a move a rebuilding team makes.
This is not a wash. The Flames are much better today, at the cost of a 2nd and a 7th.

It's a huge win.

A 2nd and a 7th? Conny robbed them blind.

They gain major space next year from this deal.

We got a guy who could turn into a poor man’s backlund (frost) and a 8 year younger version of Brandon saad (farabee)

At least we didn’t sell the farm
It's a massive upgrade on the two players we sent out. Not every deal is going to land you a first line center, but any deal that improves the team now and long term is a good move.

Briere probably sees a but if himself in Pelltier, kind of the son he wish he had.

Probably the most satisfying day as a Flames fan since the draft for me. Flames win 4-1, Coronato natural hat trick, Dustin Wolf win, they spend the last minute punching several Ducks in the face, and at the same time Conroy finally pulls off the coveted trade for a 25 year old top 6 center. And he got another top 6 winger on top of that. All without giving up a 1st.
