Both Pelletier and Kuzmenko could be out of the NHL by next season. Like I hate drat picks being moved out, but man what a dumb trade the Flyers

2028 is looking like a weak draft, real drop off after the end of the 6th round in terms of talent

Apparently Briere also got to keep the pen he signed the contract with.

I will miss Pelts. Liked him since his call up.
But I don't know that he's a core piece either. Kind of a jack of all trades, master of none.

Huberdeau - Kadri - Zary
Coleman - Backlund - Coronato
Farabee - Frost - Sharangovich
Lomberg - Pospisil - Klapka
That suddenly looks pretty good.
I do miss Pelletier as I think he's a Coleman clone long term, but sounds like he was looking for a change so you include him here.

only pro argument I've seen is they clear cap space after this season. But I have no idea how that actually helps them in their current situation.

Too many forwards now, right?

Pelts really got rolling with a good healthy stretch of playing time. Wish him all the best in Philly, honestly. But I also didn't see him as a long term fit when the Flames had needs elsewhere and little room to shuffle him around.

Am I the only one who sees our return as just 2 guys who are .6ppg players, slightly or aggresively overpaid (not that it matters with our cap situation) but seems like we win on the fact that we didn’t give up a first.
We got a guy who could turn into a poor man’s backlund (frost) and a 8 year younger version of Brandon saad (farabee)
At least we didn’t sell the farm

No salary retention doesn't surprise me. It's not like Philly is going to go out and buy a rental player, so being up against the cap doesn't matter. They actually gained cap space on this deal I think.
