More likely that Doughty is trying to get back and in shape before the 4 Nations Faceoff.

His play has really tailed off lately. With Doughty back they are likely just giving him a rest in the press box.

Weekes is just trolling at this point.

Weekes wants to be considered a legit insider but then he puts out click bait like the Pittsburgh tweet last Friday.

Can't take him seriously.

Wow, I would be shocked if the Kings traded Clarke. Judging by his pure skill level and creativity, I truly believe he'll be a point a game dman one day. Clarke had such a great start to the season, but hasn't been picking up points lately with Coach Jim Hiller constantly bringing him down in the media. At one point, Clarke had a stretch with something like 14 points in 14 games, and the LA media were singing his praises, but Hiller chose to admonish his defensive play to the media. He's done this several times this year to the media regarding Clarke, I wonder how he treats Clarke behind the scenes. It's honestly not surprising that Clarke hasn't produced points in the last two months after his hot start. That being said, I would be surprised if the Kings chose to trade him.

I doubt this is anything, but with Rob Blake you never know. Gave Winnipeg half their middle six for Dubois and actually extended him.

If the Kings are after Pettersson that is a good piece to include in the deal

Clarke is worth more than Pettersson.

Worth more than Vancouver’s other Elias Pettersson? Sure.

You can have:

(a.) 21-year-old Clarke and $87 million, or
(b.) 26-year old Pettersson.

I know what I'd pick.

Offensive dman with some flaws in his game v. a top line center.
I know what I'd pick.

He's 21 and already in the NHL. As a D.

And you have $87 million extra to spend on whatever you like.

Top line center who has fewer assists than the kid?

I wouldn’t trade Clarke for Pettersen either. Kid is going to be a superstar.

I think people are judging EP on the player we see now. I think there is still an elite centre in there. To each their own.

I think you and I have similar opinions on most things, but I guess not everything, lol.

I’d really want to use that $87 million to take a run at MxDavid in 2026 if I was LA. If there’s even the slightest chance he goes to free agency. Would anger the oilers beyond anything short of McDavid going to Calgary, Vancouver or Toronto.

I'm judging it on ELC players that can contribute at the NHL level are the holy grail of value in a league with salary constraints.

He has the perfect age for them to be talking about a max-term extension, too. For all the prime years and no slop at the end of the deal. A dream.

But Blake doesn't strike me as in the top half of smartest managers in this league.

It might even anger them more than Vancouver or Toronto because you know they're still festering about Gretzky.

But, yeah, that's the good thing. You can do whatever you want with it and still keep Clarke. Vancouver chose to give that guy $11.6M, and they're already behind the Kings with a prime star D on their own team. It's their problem.
