Doesn't he already have a reduced role? Who would you rather have on PK1 or 3v5 PK?

They traded Lindholm and replaced him with...nobody. That's why he has to play as many minutes as he is.

Klapka cleanly hit Wilson earlier in the game. While Wilson was on the ice, Klapka gave him a crosscheck to the hip area, and Wilson immediately embellished it, yelping and rolling around like a little bitch.

Rasmus and Wilson both got unsportsmanlike penalties on that play in the tweet video where Raz was absolutely trolling Wilson's bitch ass. He got Wilson so riled up, Wilson was even giving #### to the fans in the immediate vicinity of the box. Props to those fans BTW for continuing to get under his skin.

Less than a minute after the penalties were over, Wilson was back in the box for high sticking Backlund.

Great energy for a Tuesday night crowd. Hatred in hockey makes hockey fun in January and this has been the missing ingredient in the new post lockout NHL.

I like the way Sharangovich is adjusting, so I’d go Kadri, Zary, Sharangovich, and Backlund.

So, why are you contradicting everything you said in that post?

I don’t think it’s really that important to have a centre on the PP. its only the faceoff where it is important and that’s 50/50 and Backlund isn’t that great on it.

It’s a different game on the PP, the normal responsibilities of a centre are not required. You should just have your most skilled and offensively creative players out there.

I think Backlund is a great two way centre but his skills are just not suited for the PP.

I think a reduced role is logical for sure.

But I don't see that as a fourth line.

I think he's been a defacto 2nd line center for years, and should be a third line center by natural progression of younger options.

Some day 4th line for sure.

Not sure that's here though as he's 1st on the team in play driving.

They pushed him to 3C when they got Kadri. Now Lindholm is gone, Zary's hurt, and he's back to 2C. How do you propose to reduce his role any more than they have?

Fair enough, but I see some good things coming from Sharangovich at C right now. Not sure I’d move him to the wing.

Flames are in a bit of a predicament at the center position in the next few seasons. It's not like Kadri isn't nearing the same sort of decline as Backlund.

I agree. And the bad part is, none of them are particularly good in the dot.

From my coaching days ...

I'd take a 45% faceoff guy that can make the right reads in the defensive zone triangle every day.

Face offs are important, but far too often they are the starting point for looking at centers (beyond the obvious, production), when it's way down the list.

Does it matter much? 4 of the top 6 faceoff teams are missing the playoffs. Not sure that's a variable I'd spend a lot of money on. NY Islanders are far and away the best team at it.

Right now, I’d move Sharangovich over to PP2 and Kuzmenko to PP1. So PP2 would be Coleman Sharangovich Pospisil
Barrie Andersson
I’d drop him down, at least temporarily to 4C once Zary is back. Would strengthen the 4th line immensely. And I think Zary would do well with Coleman and Coronato.

Ok, but all I’m saying is, it’s not ideal. It’d be nice to have one guy you can rely on for that aspect. Any coach would want that.

Once in a men's league game I won literally 100% of my faceoffs. We lost 11-1.

FO% is overrated.

The PP part I can't argue with, I'd be fine giving that a try.

But you know that Coleman-Backlund-Coronato line was 92.7% xGF last night, right? That's an amazing night.

You're welcome.

Thats actually where I was a few rows back, the whole thing practically happened right in front of us. Raz almost killed me with that! I was dying laughing and the whole section was just giving it to Wilson.

A few fans even got up and copied Raz's imitation right behind Wilson!

Is it me or does Logan Thompson seem to always play well in Calgary? He has a record of 23-2-3 on the season and went for a third round pick. I'm thankful the Oilers didn't make a deal to get him.

Well how about we let the young up and comer have a shot with those two? I’m sorry, but I prioritize developing my young guys. Zary alongside our most responsible winger is a recipe for success imo.
