Goddam that Leopard is lethal. I actually saw a video about a week ago of a Bradley disabling a modern T-90 with just the 25mm cannon by continually firing at the enemy optics. I guess the operator said he learned the maneuver in a video game. If a Bradley can halt a tank like a T-90, the Russian would be right to #### his pants at the sight of a Leopard or an Abrams.
Interesting about the Rheinmetall CEO being a target. Makes you wonder if he is a legitimate target or just a civilian. His company is definitely arming NATO countries. Does that make the entire board a target? Middle managers? Boeing and Lockheed Martin employees?
And this is why Canadian procurement is so frustrating.
There is lots of kit available from our allies read to plug and play, yet we do a long song and dance.

The company "Insta Group Oy" together with Ukrainian specialists, has developed a new strike drone "Steel Eagle ER" for the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine. https://twitter.com/user/status/1884639894187671804
Last night, the SBU and SOF conducted a joint special operation to target the "Andreapol" oil pumping station, which is an important component of the Baltic Pipeline System-2.
As a result of the drone attack, the filtration pump site and tanks with additives were damaged, causing an oil spill and fire. Russians even had to stop the main pipeline that supplies oil to the "Ust-Luga" terminal in the Leningrad region. https://twitter.com/user/status/1884635744641192395

Is it fair to say at this point you'd be out of your mind to volunteer for infantry? Like...a simple human with a rifle is way too fkd at this point with all the tech buzzing around to take you out.

Well Ukraine has implemented martial law and conscription, so people don't really have a choice.
But by all accounts, Ukraine values the life of their troops and doesn't exactly throw meat waves at the enemy. They are far more strategic in exposing their forces to danger.
They are fast tracking the development of both ground and aerial unmanned weapons systems that are very interesting. In fact, you can donate directly to this cause https://u24.gov.ua/robots_fight, or other causes on this official website. Luke Skywalker endorses this project.
Note that it does not qualify for tax credit.

Unfortunately, humans are still needed to set up the logistics in a combat zone. Until drones and robots can building roads, supply lines, camps, and staging areas, combat infantry will be a necessity. You would have to be brave to volunteer for it, but if people don't, then they will be assigned to it.

Obvs.
I'm talking about when you have a choice, like in our volunteer Canadian military.

Point taken.
But Ukraine's NATO backers are giving it advanced tech so that even high ranking enemy officers and generals are not safe. (Neither is their energy infrastructure, it would seem).

You will never not need The Queen of the Battlefield.
You don't own land unless you are standing on it.
There will never not be a need for infantry.
It has changed and will change, but it is needed (& at times it pretty ####ing fun).

SINGAPORE, Jan 28 (Reuters) - Trade for March-loading Russian oil in top buyer Asia has stalled as a wide price gap between buyers and sellers emerged in China after costs for chartering tankers unaffected by U.S. sanctions jumped, according to traders and shipping data.
Washington imposed fresh sanctions on Jan. 10 targeting Russia's oil supply chain, causing tanker freight rates to soar as some buyers and ports in China and India steered clear of sanctioned ships.
You know what else is probably making India and China less interested in doing business with the Russian shadow fleet?
Russian dark fleet ships, some of which are registered in China, getting into trouble with NATO authorities at the Baltic Sea for stupid undersea cable sabotage stuff, maybe?
I'm sure China has been just loving being dragged into an absolute mess of international diplomacy, shipping law and police action halfway across, especially when it's all about not super important local infrastructure that really doesn't affect or interest them even a little bit.
I'm sure it's more about the price of oil because everything is about money, but these are the kinds of situations where you really start noticing how much of goodwill from your main trading partner you've been burning.

I came across a trailer for a new documentary coming out this year about propaganda being used in Russian schools to brainwash children. He was an educator and schools filmographer, and did his best to resist. He took the footage and left Russia, then created an anti-Putin film with it.
It looks like it is still in the festival scene, but probably a good one to watch out for if it comes to town or is available for streaming. It seems to be getting good reviews so far.
