Moose & Poncho's Ogden location is closing, well closed.

I was there on Saturday and they said it was their last day.

Shame, good tacos good people (at least they appeared that way)

No line inside, yet I stood there like a numpty while they scurried around to keep the drive-thru line moving. So while I agree that walking a few steps to fetch my food is usually quicker, it isn't always the case.

The easiest solution is just not going to that Tim Hortons... or any of them.
fixed

Tim Hortons is vile

Yeah, it may be a bit of a lazy thing for me, but I just have thresholds for going in vs sitting in drive thru that are usually not met. It's not as simple as walk in = 4 minutes drive thru = 6 so therefore of course you park, get out and walk in. For example if there's the standard 4-5 cars ahead of me at Mcdonalds/timmies/a&w I'll just wait as it's really no issue to me at all. I'm generally not one of those "OMG there's so much to do this morning and I woke up late and I'm leaving for work late for the 20th day in a row and now OMG every second counts on the road!!!!!" people.

So if anything sitting in line for a few mins just gives me a chance to relax and check emails/texts etc, vs parking, getting out and shutting the car off, heading in, coming back turning it back on etc to save a couple minutes.

Ya, it’s mcds, lazy is the price of admission either way. Not like you are getting a workout going in and smelling homelass.

What about the environment man? Think about all those emissions you could be cutting back on by not idling those extra minutes and shutting it down instead.

I agree.

This always worked like a charm at Peter's and used to be good at the other fast food places too. Tim's specifically - forget it. I did this at the Highway 40 location because of a massive drive through line, and I think it was over 10 minutes to grab a coffee despite being 3rd in line.

The original Chinatown location was awesome- simple, good food at a reasonable price. Nice people. Fun, unpretentious spot.

The emissions are worse after consuming drive-thru food.

He made a point of saying their downtown location is still open

Tim's times their drive through times. The Franchisee has to meet certain expectations of how quick their drive thru times are. There are no metrics tracked for indoor. That is why the drive thru is prioritized.

How are their chicken salad sandwich metrics tracked? I was a legend at my old company due to having to emergency crap in the side of a road while a convoy of the new company touring the assets got to
Watch from their cars.

I still miss that location. They were going to move right across the hall to that empty spot but then 2020 happened.

I also miss the Moose and Poncho Chinatown location when their tacos were $3.5 and no one knew about the place. It was the ultimately lunch spot.

The "grocery store" expansion that Moose and Poncho was planning to open across the hall was the Caucasian co-founder's idea, but it sounded like him and the Latino co-founder had some sort of falling out shortly before the pandemic.

Ogden always seemed like a weird spot for their newest location. It's so inconvenient for their yuppie and young adult clientele to get to.

Was it even open a year? That location isn’t great.

Edit: barely six months

That's sad, I liked going there.

I'm guessing Ogden wasn't the right demographic for them though.

Chapters/Indigo at Dalhousie closed on the 25th. It's both surprising and it's not - that location had decent traffic.

I'd guess we can expect a ####ing Dollarama to go in its place.

The new Toys R Us WAYYY down south is closed. I think it lasted almost a year exactly.
The weird thing is not why they closed it, but why did they open up that location in the first place!

On Reddit the talk was that Shoppers came in and offered to pay a higher lease than Chapters is on. Seems like a large space for Shoppers, but what do I know? Shoppers does put larger grocery sections in some stores, but there is a Safeway across the parking lot and Co-op a few blocks away so it would seem a tough space to compete in.
