Flames Washington Capitals at Calgary Flames 7:00pm TV: SNW, MNMT, TVA - RADIO SN960

Previous Game

News Roundup

It’s time for the Flames to move on from Dan Vladar

What started the year as a tandem arrangement has quickly shifted into a distinct hierarchy in goal for the Calgary Flames.
Dustin Wolf has firmly seized control of the Flames’ No. 1 job over the last month or so, starting all but three games in January thus far and propelling the team up the Western Conference standings.

Flames Takeaways: Rare goalie letdown stops momentum in loss to Jets

Goaltending is the biggest reason why the Calgary Flames have been able to claw their way into a playoff position.

On Sunday it let them down.

Ryan Huska said as much, albeit diplomatically, after a 5-2 loss in Winnipeg.

Breaking down Jonathan Huberdeau’s shift from being a playmaker to a goal scorer

Jonathan Huberdeau has seemingly turned a corner. He is currently leading the Calgary Flames in both goals and points, something that not many people would have predicted prior to the year.

Which alternate timeline did I just slip into where the Capitals are the #1 team in the league and their leading scorer is Dylan Strome?

You have to laugh at the unsustainable nature of that team. That team shooting percentage comparison graphic is unreal, and their PDO of over 103 is a red flag for a team that looked terrible last year, especially when their underlying stats indicate that they're a midpack team at best. Logan Thompson having a stupidly great year is a big reason for their success.

Hope the Flames are ready for this one. It'd be nice to put a feather in the cap of "we beat the best team in the league", and I think the Caps are a bit of a paper tiger.

MacLellan has done an admirable job in Washington- best team in the league, and one of the best prospect bases in the NHL as well.

Who knew a full head of hair on EatBread would be the catalyst for a rejuvenated Capitals this season? Jokes aside, I’m happy for both Mangiapane and Ovechkin to be where they are. Hopefully the Wolf can stymie their offense and the Flames can get goals from multiple lines tonight. And hoping Bahl isn’t off for too long. Go Flames!

Same goes for Carbery. He's gotta be the frontrunner for Jack Adams.

What are the odds that Mangiapane scores tonight? I'm assuming almost an absolute certainty.

I feel like Ovi scores many goals against Calgary.

I saw a list once a long time ago about his goals per team totals, but can't find it anymore. I think he absolutely feasted on WPG when they were in ATL.

Ya know...I understand that they're playing well but man...just put Vladar in net and give Wolf and Raz and Weegar a quiet word....

Never know, without the injury, the record could have happened tonight in Calgary. Missed 16 and he is short 20 goals, but was lined up pretty decent.

Andrew Mangipane is on the 4th line. His agent was complaining about the Flames playing him on the 3rd line in Calgary. He's going to get a hattrick tonight, isn't he?

He's still riding a good wave and he's going up against a tired and depleted D Corps.

I like our D, but the Winnipeg game shows that this 'Joke Tournament Break' cant come soon enough. They're tired.

Only Wolf stands tonight. The Lone Wolf.

Me too. I'm just saying...the man could use a little help and we have nothing to lose.

Big game for Dustin Wolf's Calder chase tonight, up against one of the Vezina hopefuls.
