Yeah, this entire exchange was odd. In the end I imagine Columbia probably decided that accepting a couple planes loads of Columbians isn't rely worth a trade war. I wouldn't be surprised if behind the scenes the US sweetened the deal in exchange for being able to say "Columbia accepted all demands and backed off".

I thought the issue was that there were non-Colombians on the flights? Colombia agreed to take their citizens back but not others.

Anytime I hear Trump government pat themselves on the back I just think they are lying about what happened. Likely outcome was a middle ground was found but of course they'll say they accepted all demands to show how awesome their demanding approach is.

Thats basically how Kruschev and Kennedy saved the world in 1962.
The US declared publicly a diplomatic victory by having the USSR remove missiles from Cuba, but secretly the deal included the US removing missiles from Turkey, and Kruschev agreed not to publicize that so the US administration could save face.
Hopefully there are still some grownups around Trump to keep things on the rails.

Colombia publicly offered to use their presidential plane to transport the returnees in a more dignified manner, so there's something to that. Plus, under Biden, Colombia accepted something like 140 plane loads of returnees so there was no fundamental issue before.

Can you imagine the humiliation being felt by an educated, intelligent American having this orange buffoon speaking for you?
I'm not even a citizen of that country and I get chills of the d**che variety whenever he speaks. The Los Angeles news conference/meeting was really bad, talking over people, repeating the same points that are meaningless and not true.

An Indiana man recently pardoned by President Donald Trump for storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, is dead after being shot by a sheriff’s deputy while allegedly resisting arrest.
Matthew Huttle, 42, of Hobart was shot and killed during a traffic stop near the Jasper/Pulaski county lines on Sunday afternoon. A deputy with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department pulled Huttle’s vehicle over on State Road 14 at approximately 4:15 p.m.

LOL, would have still been alive if Trump hadn't pardoned him.

I'll be honest, I didn't read much past the headline, nor do I care much. Sounds like a criminal FAFO one too many times. Should I, like, feel bad for him or something? Not sure what you are expecting out of this.
