Yeah his splits away and with MacKinnon at 5v5 worry me...if a team gives him $14M it could be a mistake for sure.

If Rantanen wouldn't give a discount to stay in Colorado, I doubt he'd take one for Carolina.
They will either be giving out the biggest contract in their history, or he will walk after the season.
Kind of hope he walks right into CCs arms.

I think the Canes try to give Rantanen really huge money for slightly shorter term. Also, we all know about the aging curve, but Rantanen is on pace for his third straight season with over 100 points. He’s huge, very strong and fast. I think he could be a very good player for quite some time still just because he’s starting from such a high point. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Canes do just give him a max-term contract.

I think that is more an indication of the Avs top heavy forward depth. You're going from MacKinnon to Mittelstadt.

Unless he was trying to take Colorado to the cleaners which I doubt, this is a pretty big disrespect for Rantanen. I can see him going nuts for Carolina. Was a captain in Finland as a 17 year old in a men's league.
Colorado just dug it's own grave IMO.
