Imagine wasting a year and a half on this to come away as the 'Outlaws' (one of the most bland sports team names imaginable) or 'Mammoth' (already a professional lacrosse team).

I think there are ways around it.

"Let's go Utah" still works, or other options.

And in terms of a "theme" I think you can still do it. You can still have a mountains/yeti/mammoth theme/brand around the team without having to officially call the team one of those things.
