I'm hoping for some advice.. my wife has struggled with ski boots for years as her feet, relative to those of the same length, are wider than average. In a comfortable boot her heel is way too loose, and so when she goes for a size smaller to mitigate the heel slop, she ends up with a boot that might feel ok at first but by the end of a ski day her big toe is in a lot of pain. We have had her last two pair punched to the point the local shop's techs say there is no more that can be done. I don't want to name the shop as this isn't a criticism of them per se (I like them a lot) but I was hoping for:
a) recommendations for bootfitters who are exceptionally good, especially if you have wide feet
b) recommendations for boot make/model that are already suited to wide feet. From browsing Reddit I have the K2 BFC and Atomic Hawx Magna on my watch list, but I'm noticing some local shops are sold out of both. I figure half the battle is knowing what to ask for and going to a shop that has some in stock... Does anyone have other recommendations for boots that are naturally suited to wider feet?
Thanks in advance.

A proper shop that measures the last (width) of the foot. I think more brands are making wider boots. I struggled for years buying boots and getting them punched out. Moved into a pair of atomic Hawx magna 130 few years ago and they fit like slippers without any work.

another one is the Lange LX HV...for high volume. I had a pair of Hawx Magnas but sold them because the heal was too wide for me. I have weird feet. Narrow heal but wide forefoot. The Lange LX HV's fit me well.

It's actually really sad out there, eh. I check my Ring in Canmore all the time and there is never anything.
I've been thinking about all the businesses that must be hurting because of this beyond just the ski hills. Obviously there are the hotels, restaurants and stuff, but imagine being Ski Cellar or The Source. Like, by now somebody in my family would have needed new gloves, goggles, whatever...but we just haven't been using our stuff. In a typical year we would have dropped between $500 and $2000 by now depending on what's needed. This year, $0.
My son works at Canadian Tire stocking shelves. They sent everyone home on Saturday after just a few hours because they're not selling anything. No shovels, no salt, no gear...just no winter stuff at all. There was nothing to stock after the typical household and automotive stuff was filled up. Nobody is buying winter anything. And the fkd up part of that is he took that job because he couldn't get as many hours as he wanted last year as a snowboard instructor at COP because with the lack of snow last year not many people were taking lessons.
A ton of businesses rely on typical seasonal weather in our part of the world. When it's just not snowing and staying between -10 and +5 every day, there's just no need for normal winter purchases. My business is heavily reliant on weather and this winter has been totally brutal for us. Even one snowfall can trigger a lot of sales for me, but it hasn't snowed in forever.

It snowed 10cm on January 2nd. Nothing more than flurries since then with nothing in the forecast through the end of the month. January is always a dry month for Fernie, but I think <20cm has to be pushing for the all time low record. Too bad, because they had a really good December. At least it hasn't rained in a month either?
Rode KH last Saturday. It's thin. Decided to ride Louise on Sunday on the way home instead of another day at KH since Louise has better grooming. It was your typical January bluebird day and their park is super fun right now. No complaints with that decision.

So for shoe sizes, is your wife a 2E/4E? or wider? Standard width is B.
Some people don't realize that shoe sizes also technically should have width. Knowing this attribute to foot wear might help to better identify the product you're looking for. That way you can start searching up the right keywords (ie: width or last). It'll be a bit harder just reading up on boots for wide feet without objectively knowing the standard of shoe/boot width that your wife is trying to address.

Good luck. I have slightly wider feet, so I bump up half a size or a full size based on standard, wide or extra wide shoes. Someone with extra wide though, it's probably a lot more difficult to find an appropriate shoe/boot.

I thought this was supposed to be a La Nina. Google tells me she's here, but she's weak. Maybe it's revenge for Kamala.

47 cm in Fernie in 48 hours. Castle finally looks skiable too when it warms up.
Feb 3rd: Castle says "we received nearly 40cm from this storm"

Sun Peaks delivered yesterday.
Funny, I was riding up the chair with a local guy and he said it hadn't snowed the whole "Dry January". Snow gods were waiting for us all to get back on the piss!

Thanks again for this recommendation. My wife skiied two days on Lange LX HVs with the same Mondo as her Atomic Magna's and it made a world of difference.
In the spirit of sharing conditions updates:
Panorama was pretty good off the Mile 1, Sunbird and Champagne chairs this weekend. Summit runs were rough. One fellow chair-rider told me he found thigh-deep pockets on the far side of Taynton Bowl but that the run out was rough.

Well, this is fairly terrifying.
https://globalnews.ca/news/11075125/...-horse-resort/
You see this occasionally at crappy small resorts with old lifts and bad maintenance practices but KHMR?
