We have a couple of work sites that use it now, works very well for everything except VPN connections, which drop constantly and are unreliable when connected. We don't really need the VPN though (other remote options), so it's been amazing for these locations that are out in the boonies with the only other services available being cell modems

We have a few hundred of them on our pipeline project. They are awesome!

I was stuck in traffic on the highway and logged into the truck infront's starlink (known password) and had connection for an hour down the highway at safe driving distance. These things are impressive.

Our speeds 3 hours east of Calgary are still as low as 40 during peak hours. They will be back up to 130/140, but nowhere close to the 230-240 we were getting in February.

So to answer your question - no still haven’t seen speed increasing.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX is expanding its Starlink satellite technology into military applications with a new business line called Starshield.

Starshield is likely to further tap the company’s biggest U.S. government customer – the Pentagon – which already represents a high-value buyer of SpaceX’s launches and has shown significant interest in the capabilities of Starlink.

I think they just realized there is boatloads of money to be made from the military. "Military grade" always comes with a 10x price modifier.

At the risk of this being poor timing based on the current transgressions thread... question for those who have Starlink. Does anybody use it for streaming? We are considering getting this to use at the trailer. It looks like they now have a roam package that is meant for limited use like we would want; for $70 per month which is within the budget. However as our trailer is less than 100km from the US border, I would be worried that I wouldn't be able to use the Sportsnet or TSN apps.

Does it give an Alberta based IP? Or at least a Canadian IP?

Details about the roam package:

Our place is less than 1/2 a km from the border with no cell coverage due to that proximity. Went with Starlink as soon as it was available and it's worked flawlessly for 4 years now. The other options, ToughCountry & Xplore, just laughed at us.

We usually have multiple devices connected (2 teenagers and my wife) along with me being logged into our company server through a vpn connection. No problem with streaming movies or access to Sportsnet using an Apple TV box and Telus TV+ for my sports package. Quite a few places have Starlink now, I havent heard of anyone with an issue streaming sports and I can't imagine everyone is using the same Apple/Telus setup that we are.

I was paying for it as an Alberta dish and was using it all over BC without any issue. I had the RV package from years back.
