I often wonder why all this anti-semitism is happening again, and aside from it being humanity's most popular pastime, I can only speculate that it's been a while since it was in the public consciousness. Schindler's List was 1993, which is 30 years ago. An entire generation or two has grown up without the holocaust as part of the public consciousness. It's been 3-4 generations since the holocaust and survivors (and their stories) are rare to still find alive. It troubles me that history has the potential to repeat itself, and so soon after such an atrocity.

When I see people like Mel equivocate or rationalize how someone could be nazi adjacent, but not an actual nazi, it makes my skin crawl. It reminds me of all the beliefs and actions of nazis that normal germans allowed to exist without any real push back. We cannot allow this to happen again, and that's why there has been a consistent sentiment from the Jewish community that simply says "never again".

Bluesky seems to be the replacement. You may not get all the people you follow immediately, but the quickest way to get them to move is to leave yourself. You can always send them a goodbye message to encourage them.

At a certainly point you should question if you even need a replacement. Bluesky sucks, tbh, but I find twitter unbearable to scroll through. And now my ad blocker stops embedded twitter links from showing up, so I just don’t really even see Twitter at all but still haven’t bothered with Bluesky. Life is good.

There are some really good reporters on Bluesky now, and you don't really find their info elsewhere unless you know to look. plus the World Bollard Association posts some real bangers, which alone is probably enough reason.

Depends on what definition of the word “Gulf” you use.

1. a deep inlet of the sea almost surrounded by land, with a narrow mouth.

2. a deep ravine, chasm, or abyss.

3. a large difference or division between two people or groups, or between viewpoints, concepts, or situations.

The Gulf of America is not a body of water. It’s that big landmass between Mexico and Canada we need to do our best to ignore for the next four years.

I was actually really disappointed in her speech if I'm honest. From a man I'd expect kowtowing to authority but I was really hoping she'd go for the balls and really tear into him.
