The cap would have to be at least $129 million for a goalie to get $16 million AAV at the same cap percentage Shesterkin just signed ($129 million x 12.4% is $15.996 million AAV).

I meant "goes up 5% a year for the next 4 years" (as noted in the earlier discussion).
That's where I got to the $14m. I'm not suggesting that's 100% a lock, just agreeing with jayswin's general point that a goalie like Wolf might bet on himself and push for shorter term deals in anticipation of large cap increases over the next few years.

Didn't see this posted anywhere, but if it was, sorry! But it has a few interesting tidbits inside, like how Wolf loves dolphins and hates sharks. Love Wolf.

Another rare quality that wolf has that no flames goalie has had since Kipper is that he does not seem to give up that deflating goal. I think of how often Markstrom let in the first shot of the game or he let in a goal 20 seconds after the flames scored a goal. That’s not just Markstrom but so many of the flames goalies have done that over the years since kipper. Wolf rarely does anything like that.

And if he does give up a bad goal or go-ahead goal, he just shuts the door afterwards.
Tonight was a great example. Neither goal were his fault (both screened tip-ins) but after the Sabres went up 2-1 he shut the door and you just knew nothing else was getting past him.
It's so nice having that feeling of confidence again in your goaltender.

There was a save tonight that I thought of the same thing.
I think it was right after the Flames went up 3-2 and Buffalo had a great chance to score right away.
Wolf made such a calm & timely save on a good scoring chance.

Does his name start getting tossed into the Hart convo?

If it hasn’t been, it damn well should be. I think he deserves nominations for both the Hart and Vezina and should win the Calder if he keeps this up.
The most impressive young goalie in a generation.

Has to be. If the meaning is worth anything he is probably the clear-cut winner.

Wolf should be a Hart winner if Flames made playoffs.
Of course, he won't be nominated because of the eastern bias. But if he was a Maple Leaf, this would be the talk of the NHL.

Every win he's adding another 100G's/year to his next contract which may have started with a 5 before the season but more likely an 8 now. Also I am all for it. Lock this dude up the second he is eligible then continue building around him. He's the real deal and has proven it at every level.
