If the elbow in the prior game was dealt with, the whole situation would have been avoided

I mean there were 3-4 penalties on the play. Garland obviously was holding McDavid and interference as well. McDavid could have had a penalty for roughing and obviously the cross checking on the play. It was strange that neither of the referees arms went up before the situation was out of control.

Garland is a player who is only in the league if he plays like that though. He is a very undersized player who is chippy and is able to get under the skin of the opposition. If he didn't play like that he would be a career AHL all star or doing the European circuit.

I'm a Canucks fan and I think that it was a smart play by Garland but he grabbed McDavids arm and brought him down to the ground and then held him down before McDavid punched Garland in the head and then Garland just held onto McDavid to prevent him from entering the play. The narrative here that McDavid willingly took himself out of the play in order to interfere with Garland is laughable. Even if Garland gets a penalty there is what, 10 seconds left in the game? The Oilers have possession of the puck and were pressuring.

McDavid isn't a stupid hockey player and obviously neither is Garland.

You don't even want to listen to the NHL network on satellite radio then.
on and on about how Myers should get a much longer suspension because it was an exponentially worse infraction and McDavid should get one game at most because you don't want to lose too many gates

Evander Kane is apparently going to celebrate Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday.

A report from NBC News has named the Edmonton Oilers forward alongside other prominent athletes who are slated to attend the American president’s inauguration ceremony.

Other athletes named in the report include legendary boxer Mike Tyson and ex-NFLer Antonio Brown.

Le sigh. Look...I'm not clicking the link but...please tell me thats not real? Onion article? Beaverton?

Or at least that Kane is looking for some sort of 'Bankruptcy Bros' pardon and promises to avoid Vegas and only scam Atlantic City?

So all the ####s and thugs of the world are going to celebrate it. Celebs with shady or controversial backgrounds.

I wonder if they ever look around and mentally survey the company they're in.

But I guess villains don't usually recognize their own kind as such.

This poster is right about there being a different set of rules for McTantrum. But not how they think. The guy gets away with multiple penalties every game. His grab and tuck bull#### should be called every single time.

There's two standards for intelligence. One for Oilers and one for everyone else.

How come we never hear about whining over MacKinnon not drawing enough penalties? Last I saw he was leading the league in scoring. Why is Canadian media always so fixated on how many penalties McDavid draws while never whining that the league should open up things for other elite players? The reason McDavid is drawing less penalties is probably because the officials have seen enough video over the last few years and have got a little tired of looking like fools falling for the embellishment. This was probably always going to come to a head eventually the way McDavid was going with the leg kicks and stuff.

Mackinnon just bears down and plays harder. Puts his anger in the right place.

McDavid is just intent on having the rules change for him and being entitled than just accepting this is the game and battling through it.

If you look at who has won championships (eichel, sid, mackinnon), it's evident which attitude/approach wins and which doesn't.

Edmonton's entire culture has become playing victim. Goddamn babies, every one of them.

I've never understood the idea that McDavid is so good that he shouldn't have to meet the same rules as other players.

Rogers desperately wants the Oilers to win the cup. It keeps - frustratingly! - not happening. So let's help it out a bit, and lobby for our star to be "treated with the respect he has earned!"

100% this.

I am sure the officials are under constant evaluation and their mistakes are pointed out to them. They have fallen for McDavid's shenanigans so many times that they have to be getting tired of be made to look like fools over and over.
