Yep. Hope some team claims him. Then they’ll have no Foegele, McLeod, Ryan. Who’s left to play PK?

Even if they had those guys they wouldn’t have repeated what happened in last year’s playoffs. Without them? I can’t wait to watch.

I'm with Diss on this one and I was one of the biggest Ryan supporters on CP. Would much rather those minutes go to one of the kids.

What do any of these players have to do with becoming Flames?

He's better than Rooney. The Wranglers don't have any other kids at forward (especially centres) who I'm clamouring to see at this point so heck, bring back Doc.

We should grab him. Not a long term commitment and he wouldn’t be in a position to demand icetime so if/when Zary is back and up to speed he’s a good veteran scratch available for playoff insurance. He’s good on the PK and an upgrade over Rooney. Decent faceoff man. We’re in a situation where a point or 2 could put us in the playoffs. If he could turn 2 or 3 games around from a 2-2 OT to a regulation win here or there, it would be worth it.

I actually lived with him in my dorm at U of A while he played for the Bears so got to know him a little. Really cool to see what he did with himself.
Same age as Rob Schremp he got in about 150 more NHL games than Schremp and Yakupov combined

Umm yes we do. We have a giant centre called Klapka that is perfect for the 4th line. A helluva lot better than Ryan.

I don't think Klapka has played a single game at centre in North America.

That's fair. Bishop. Morton.

I honestly think Ryan makes sense just as much as a 4C in the NHL as he does to push Rooney down to the Wranglers, who could really use him. They're now down Schwindt, Kirkland, and Kerins at centre. Ryan isn't as good as he was five years ago (when he was one of the best bottom-six guys in the NHL), but he's a RHS C who wins faceoffs and PKs. He's better than Bishop for sure.

Can't image he gets picked up. One of the slowest guys in the NHL. Nice little run he had though.

Bishop would be the only one that based on his play in the AHL you'd go, "Coulf he be better than Rooney or Ryan" .

But at the very least I'd take Ryan and try to move Rooney and you're not really blocking anyone but hopefully improving your 4th line and PK

I know Rooney is a whipping boy but Ryan is not an upgrade at this stage.

Let’s keep in mind that Ryan is no longer good enough to be on Edmonton’s 4th line. Just reflect on that thought before suggesting that the Flames should claim him.

Feels like someone you'd want in the organization for a coaching/management role one day. Like Connie he seems to have the mind and work ethic to make it work.
