Only 7 per cent of Canadian seniors live in nursing or retirement homes. Even among Canadians in their 80s, less then a third live in seniors facilities (and often another member of the couple still lives in the house they own).

The great majority of wealth in real estate is passed on as inheritance.

Huh...thats weird...its almost as if the founding members of Confederation may have had a vested interest in maintaining controlled, inherited, familial wealth.

But that can't be...

My dad had to go kicking and screaming into the home and not because he didn’t want the nursing home, he didn’t want to spend d the $5k a month of our eventual inheritance.

Both my parents went into care at the same time. Between CPP, OAS, subsidies and investment income, their capital was not reduced at all.

Yeah, I know. Let me repeat myself: it's almost like it's not well thought out.

Inheriting RE sucks so bad. Gotta jump through a lot of hoops to do the PRE twice.

We havent had TV in our house for 5 years now, and with a VPN, a $350 mini pc and the knowledge of a few websites we have access to every tv show (1 hour after airing finishes), every sport live streamed and every PPV event. The only sport I struggled to find was the world juniors until this year, now I’m good.
You may want to check on the 'legally' part.

What would be illegal about it? You may want to check on that. Hypothetically if I access a site like NHL66.ir which is based out of Iran and use a vpn to get there, which laws would I be breaking? Hypothetically of course.

I understand the mentality when you’re broke and struggling with bills and stuff and need some entertainment, but once you pass a certain threshold of disposable income, the joy of getting a deal by pirating stuff fades. Dicking around with different websites and generally having to be IT support whenever anybody wants to watch TV and gets buffering problems or dead links isn’t worth the hassle. I am sure things have gotten better since Kodi and all of its addons, but I don’t feel the urge to go back. I have Disney and Crave and if I feel like watching a movie, I can order it on the Apple TV and it’s effortless.

I assure you I’m not broke or struggling. And if you can’t find a reliable stream, it’s probably you that’s the regard. A fool and their money will soon be parted.

Is there a way you’d like to back up this statement? “ once you pass a certain threshold of disposable income, the joy of getting a deal by pirating stuff fades” because I’d play ball here . Quite a cu*** remark that I’ve got receipts to back up

Meh, I use an IPTV service from some guys based out of mexico - has all the local channels from calgary (from anywhere for that fact), every series and recent movie to date for a grand total of $20.00 CAD per month. And it travels with me, I can watch it anywhere, no blackouts or restrictions. Rogers can suck it for being the greedy blood sucking vampires that they are....

Yeah, it probably came across condescending. I am just saying it became a tiresome exercise and not worth the effort, and maybe it’s less cumbersome now, but when my family wants to watch a tv show or a movie when I am not around, I don’t feel like doing tech support whenever anybody wants they can’t find a stable source or whatever. It’s fine for people that feel the need to so it like that. Just don’t feel pirating a new movie that you can rent for $10 or whatever is necessary unless you’re watching 50 movies a week.

Fair enough and yeah it came across pretty arrogant but all good. What I did is I bought a mini PC, I have a good VPN, and I’m currently watching the dvalishvili nurmagomedov UFC fight. I started streaming the event when it began and it’s been flawless.

I also use that PC as an emulator for almost every retro gaming system you can imagine. My wife and I were playing Mario 64 on it before the UFC PPV hah.

It isn’t difficult but it does require a little bit of tech savvy-ness

If you didn't watch it on Sportsnet, you are doing something illegal. Pirating movies, assuming that's what you meant by using "websites", is also illegal.

But if the country where the website is hosted out of shares no copyright relations with Canada, what would be illegal about using their website? Unethical? Yeah it is. Illegal? Well there’s a lot of grey area.

So I guess if I watch Monday games on Prime then that is illegal too based on your statement Cam.

That's a lot of steps for something legal.

I don't know why people who pirate to get around streaming services pretend they're not stealing. You are, it's not a huge deal. Dana White makes enough money.
