Second (or third, fourth or whatever) the use of Brave. Nicely excludes ads on iPhone and on a PC otherwise for YouTube without interruptions.

Having said that, I'm personally HAPPY TO PAY so Bingo can keep the site running...I get information first (thanks sureloss!) and don't need to use (ugh) X/Twitter to do so. Great convos, mostly, except when the bicker twins of the night get going.

I'd support a "pay, no ads for me" option that also provides free usage, with ads, for others unable to afford payment. (He ain't heavy...he's my brother version.)

Even if Bingo (still the owner, right?) doesn't arrange a fundraiser or a pay site, there is nothing at all to stop a group of us like-minded folks from doing so, using GoFundMe or other tools. Or just sending directly. I've never looked, but assume there's a way of doing this?

1000% - Brave for Youtube and everything else; they are wasting their ad copy on me anyway. Chip in a few bucks here to keep it going strong and a few bucks in the Barn Burner super chat. The sanity I save from using Brave I can pay it forward to some extent in other ways.

Oh, and btw, I access youtube through Brave app on my phone too, not just desktop. I deleted the Youtube app and just use Brave and go to m.youtube.com

Not going to plug Crypto to anyone who doesn't like it, but BAT is pretty decent altcoin to have in your wallet too, plus the Brave rewrds you can get. Ok I'll stop shilling!

What ads and which website? At the very least, use an ad blocker extension for your favorite browser. Secondly, ditch the Google's Chrome browser and even MS Edge and go with Brave or DuckDuckGo. Brave already puts in some popup and ad blocks, especially for Youtube. The reason why you'd ditch Google's Chrome and any Google crapware is because you'll be tracked regardless if you go into In-Private mode.

Yes it’s easy to avoid ads. That doesn’t solve the issue of ensuring that CP remains strong, healthy, well-run and free for those who need it to be. AND for the owners to feel like they’re not paying for OUR enjoyment.

The real issue is to keep CP up or endure HF et al. No thanks.

This forum should be $1/month or $6/year per user. Point isnt to put it behind a paywall. Point is to require the minimal contribution to be part of the community and if that contributes towards paying the bill of the site then even better.

Yeah, I’ll be happy to kick some money in, get a subscription or buy a hoodie or whatever but I’m pretty much on the edge of being finished with CP because of these new ads.

I took the Brave recommendation and it works. Give it a try. Very easy.

It's so ****ing bad. I tried to do it without adding any sort of ad blocker as that is bad news for Bingo and CP, but I'm going to now, unfortunately. As an aside, I do love how many posters were acting like we were idiots for not simply adding a browser/app that destroys the sites revenue, lol.

If y'all are talking about the ads that slide up from the bottom, you can minimize them by clicking the down arrow over the top left corner. Makes it a tiny banner across the bottom instead of blocking half the screen.

I've put in a question to the ad server about new ads that are more obtrusive.

I personally haven't had any problems so it's tough to analyze from my setup.

Not interested in fund raisers or a pay site.

I don’t have any problems, now, either but how about a donations button?

You have to do that separately for every single page you load. And sometimes the down arrow doesn't function and the ad will not minimize. The only cure for that is to reload the page and hope you get an ad that behaves.

Of course this would start happening just when my computer eats the password for my VPN, which had its own built-in ad blocker. *le sigh*

I just had the first add that wouldn't minimize with the arrow at the top left.

For some reason quote isn't working. I was going to comment that there is a Paypal link on the front page (that I'm sure nobody ever goes to anymore), but it gives an INVALID BUSINESS ERROR upon landing at the Paypal site.

So, yes, a valid donate link would be a good idea.
