Looks like she has used it before, so maybe it's to represent her? Which is pretty ####ing presumptuous. The feds should just revoke her passport when she goes to the coronation. Stay the #### down there, you traitor.

Traitor lol. Rich coming from all the pro liberal supporters. As premier of the economic engine of Canada this is what she should be doing. Maximize pressure on the rest of Canada to get export egress.
How did Quebec get a pass on their hydro exports from equalization payments? By laying down and saying sure Canada. Whatever you think is best.
I’ve said it before Canada is NOT a country. It is a confederacy and until we can sort out our own interprovincial battles each province has to look out for what it has. I moved to Alberta when I was 19 for the chance at a career and a better life. I fully support Smith wielding the power she holds over the other provinces to get the best for the people in this province and cutting production or having tariffs isn’t the way to go.
All you people saying traitor, how do you expect teachers, doctors nurses etc to be paid when we have tariffs or shut in production. Honestly some people want to cut off their nose to spite their face.
Without OIL we dont have social programs which are already not at the level they should be.
Such partisan bull#### in this thread which is representative of the issue we have as a confederacy pretending to be a country

That’s pretty rich you complain going about partisanship, it’s pretty much a two way street.
As for her actions, she’s negotiating against her own country and signalling weakness to the other party. She is playing right into their hands and is too dumb or egotistical to see it.

I’m not saying traitor there is just zero value in saying this publicly on the eve of a trade war. She is making her position worse.
The US is unlikely to Tariff oil because it’s foolish for them to Tariff oil.
So on the 20th when the US doesn’t Tariff oil Smith is going to do a stupid victory lap. People will masturbate over her standing in front of an Alberta flag and she will have played everyone.

How is she doing that, exactly?
'Don't put tariffs on oil or...what?' What's the game? In exchange for export egress, will she "allow" Canada to put tariffs on oil & gas to pressure the US to take tariffs off everything else?
So in other words, tariffs would have to come either way in order for there to be pressure.

Lol. What?!!
Go through all my posts ever on this site and show me where you believe I’m partisan? I’ve voted liberal and conservative I’m very center thinking and center beliefs, however I’m a pragmatist and realize the social programs I support by my beliefs and what a growing population requires needs economic stability in order to be provided. You can’t pay people with magic beans. This isn’t some fairytale
Danielle smith is not negotiating against her country she is protecting the interests of the people in her province. If the country wants to place tariffs then let’s have export egress and not be dependent on the USA.

Exactly that. It clear that without some sort of leverage we won’t get a corridor through Quebec If this is what it takes so be it. Smith isn’t there to look out for Canadas interest she there to look out for Albertas If Canadas provinces wants a piece of that game step up to the table so if we do place tariffs we still have export capacity
How many schools and hospitals could be built if Irving was refining Alberta oil instead of Middle East oil?

I was referring to a couple of the other guys in the thread, so if your criticism was both ways fair enough, didn’t take it that way.
Sometimes protecting solely your province can work against the bigger picture. I do not want export conditions placed in oil and gas. It will be devestatingly bad. I also don’t want to lose that a s a bargaining chip to prevent economic issues in Ontario. I care about that too. So I’d like her to just calm down a bit and not act as he individual here, that’s all.

There is zero economics in building a pipeline all the way to Irving to feed that refinery.

For Irving to reach the capacity that would be coming at them we'd have to subsidize that increase in refining capacity to meet that timeline, so zero.

Possibly less. WCS discount right now is lower than the Tarrif estimates for Energy east and certainly lower than if the Capital cost was 4x what the last estimate was. Energy east kind of sucked. Keystone is a far better project but that keeps us tied to the US.
