Whilst you and I and many others would agree that it’s brutal defensive play that is forgiven, wouldn’t the average oilers fan ask what defensive play is and therefore be unable to distinguish good from bad?

I hope that they kept Kevin Lowe’s old hockey news around (and why wouldn’t they…it’s the past) and sign klingberg based upon his Dallas days.

It's funny that the Oilers are drooling over a guy who is a UFA at the half way point of the season. Albeit he has been recovering from surgery but how can they possibly hope to spin that they found a top 4D for free and people eat it up? Like sure the Oilers found a top 4D, but every other team has their 7 spot full so they don't need Klingberg.

Wasn't there similar hype around signing 30 goal UFA Jeff Skinner... Who is now in and out of the press box... Hilarious, their fans never learn!

According to Oil fans, Nurse is actually playing "really well" (not sure if they're using his own baseline for this analysis or the baseline of actually good d-men) so surely he will elevate Klingberg's game and make him a defensive stalwart.

I think that's only for players coming from other leagues (aka KHL) and regular NHL UFA are fine. As long as it's before trade deadline they can play in playoffs.
