I think it’s because they are developing them right on the wranglers
It was brought up by the play-by-play guys on the broadcast tonight (another great one by Amazon)… I really think there’s been a huge improvement in development by having the farm team in Calgary. Seems like no coincidence that young guys getting called up seem to fit in seamlessly the past few years.

That 5 minute penalty was a real tester after they scored early. Could easily have been a different game if they get another, but that was a very clutch shorty and the Flames tightened up the PK a lot after the goal. PKs efficiency should be based on minutes assessed. The Flames won’t get credit for any kill there.

Too bad Pelts couldn't get the third one tonight. When he got sent down he took full accountability for it. Went down, worked hard and earned a call back up. Lots of first round picks wouldn't have handled it that way. Especially with pretty much losing all of last year to injury. Nice to see Pelletier getting rewarded for this and hopefully more nights likely this to come.

Whether it’s 3 or 4 starts to Vladar’s one, if they’re serious about making the playoffs, they can’t keep giving the guy who’s 2 games under .500 the same amount of starts as the guy who’s 9 games over.
That's exactly what Huska's doing now. He was asked about recently during questions and he confirmed they may look at moving away from strict 50/50 split. Tonight was also Wolf's 4th straight start.

Wolf has gotten the start in 9 out of the last 12 games. With 40 games remaining (Vladar will start tomorrow against St. Louis) and 4 more back to backs, it's realistic to expect Wolf to start 25-30 of the remaining games. That would put him right in the range of 47-52 for the season.
What stats would Wolf need to win the Calder? 30+ wins and a save % around .915 and .920 should get him close. If the Flames make the playoffs it should be a no brainer in my opinion but the media campaign is already in full force in Montreal.

Admittedly super hard for goalies to win it, much there are LOTS of hockey minds and insiderrrrrrs all saying he deserves it.

Wolf is the wildcard in this race between the flames and the Canucks for the last playoff spot. The Canucks have had to face a lot of adversity so far this season and much of it could be behind them in the last half of the season so they could be more poised than the flames to improve the rest of the way… just by the shear capacity to improve. The flames capacity to be better lies with Wolf keeping up his level of goaltending while playing more games and Sharangovich finding his scoring touch. If both those things happen while other players keep playing as well as they have been, I think it’s a real good chance that the flames make it.
Also, there’s still the chance that Vancouver self-implodes due to the Pettersson/Miller drama. It would be tough to win a trade sending out one of those two guys.
Biggest risk for the flames not improving is the loss of Zary. They need guys like Sharangovich, Pelletier and Kerins to make up for what he has been bringing to the team. Tonight, they did just that. Well done.

Will da yutes and da vets show up for a full 60 and actually do some torching of their own.. or will they all panic, befuddled running from the assault ...to live another day in the comfort of "the re-build"?

No screen. Mrazek has been a bit off since coming back from injury. Maybe we give him more time especially since Soda has been hot. Like the guy, but maybe don't give up softballs.

I legit feel better when Soda is in net.
Pelletier from Kerins again!

Yea, I’ve been repressing the nagging cringe in the back of my mind that we are the opposing team’s ‘get right’ game every night.

Mrazek wtf was that rebound?
Quote:
This scrub had 1 goal all season long but he has 2 tonight.
Quote:
Weak as #### in front of the net there
Quote:
I’m normally a fan of Kaiser but that was… yikes. His fault 100% on that goal.
Quote:
Very sloppy so far, and Mrazek needs to clean up those rebounds.
Quote:
Mrazek a little generous this evening
Quote:
here we go again...fumblin and bumblin right in front of the crease...
Quote:
They keep saying the 2nd goal was a bounce off the boards. It was a pad save that Mrazek put off the back of Kaiser. Should have sent that to the corner. I realize he was partially screened but not a lot Kaiser can do about that.

I’m so excited be gaslit by CHGO and mostly their dumbass chat as how I’m just a “Jones hater” and don’t actually understand how Seth’s only problem is he’s overpaid by only 2 million AAV, #### that he’s not worth league average. No joke

I haven’t been listening lately, but are the CHGO guys still glazing Jones or are they finally admitting that he’s cooked here?

Seth jones is horrible He has no business on the pp

Okay yeah, I'm at the point where maybe you do sit Jones, give him a little time to get his #### together.

If Kyle Davidson finds a sucker to take Jones contract actually….ill never question any of his draft or deadline choices ever again. He will earn all of my trust if he can get rid of that pylon
Quote:
How does Jones have any blind defenders left. The guy literally makes costly mistakes every time he’s on the ice
Quote:
Like, I’m ready to make peace that 4 is going to be around for awhile. But at some point the front office & coach are gonna need to start playing him as what he is, not what his contract is. 3-4 line RHD, not your PP commander, prolly not your top minute muncher. #### sake, get out of delusion-vile KD & company.
Quote:
So Jones doesn’t want to put in any effort, but he aso doesn’t want a trade? Like what the #### is he doing here? Go home if you don’t want to play, you’ll still get paid.

If it was like, a rookie making that mistake, it'd still be frustrating but you know they'd likely not do it again and it'd be slightly more understandable. It being Jones again is like a genuine comedy, at this point. I feel like we both notice him more because he's overpaid but it also is just insane how it's always Jones.

It’s freakin empty at the UC. Check Ticketmaster and entire rows of the 300s in particular are completely unsold, not even resale tickets but face value retail unsold. Fans on StubHub are selling 100 & 200 level seats for $30. I know it’s very cold and it’s a Monday night, but… kinda depressing.

The hawks are also cold and depressing
