If they were playing the oilers that's like 10-12 shots more.

Great result, especially given our history of underperforming when the so-called winnable points are up for grabs.
Wolf brings it again, but the highlight of the night has to be Rory Kerins. A two point, +3 debut is pretty pretty pretty good.

Pelletier is a mainstay at this point IMO. Terrific to watch. Excited to see him extend hopefully soon

This last stretch they have quietly phased out Vladar into a backup.

Sorry friend. I know Wolf just beat the worst team in the league but I bet Vladar starts 2 of the next 3.
The second night of the back to back and the Jets

Pelts probably gets the least term during the summer of extensions for our young players.
2.5 x 3?

I never thought they would have the sense to do it. I'm pleasantly surprised.
Now phase Rooney out to a 13th forward and we'll be rolling.

It is interesting that the flames young players continually look better than the young players from other teams in the head to head match ups. Coronato was dominant tonight. Bedard looks skilled and created chances of course but what about all the other young guys the Blackhawks have drafted with their high picks? Why aren’t any of them looking as good as Coronato and Zary? This goes for other teams as well. Any given night this season, Coronato and/or Zary have looked like the best young players on either team (not including Wolf).

To me his potential is a player very similar to Coleman that can provide 5v5 offense while also being reliable defensively on your third line.
And those types of guys can be super important to the structure of a roster.
Flames 5v5 point leaders in the 16 games since he's been called up:
Kadri: 9
Coleman: 9
Pelletier: 8
Huberdeau: 7
Zary: 6
Coronato: 6
So he's been great for sure.

I think a big part of that is how they've been brought along by pros like Backs and Coleman. Helps them learn to play the right way as they get up to speed. Now we're starting to see their skill a lot more frequently as the rest of the game becomes second nature

Doesn’t seem like Chicago has many of the high picks on the roster. They have a weird vet heavy roster.
Our vets are better allowing Zary and Coronato to flourish.

He also didn’t hesitate to jump the guy that kneed Zary. It was immediate. Love the fire in that kid.

Kerins has composure with the puck I noticed in the highlights. That's a very transferable gift into the NHL.
I hope they find a way to keep him up and in the top 9 when Zary gets back.

Good point. Does seem strange that they have been so bad for a while now and have so few of their top picks on the team ant this point. Interesting.

would be nice if those 2 can break in at least one more (Honzek?) if not 2 (Stromgren?), wish they could do it forever

It’s going to be Zary and Coronato job to break in the new guys I’d probably add Pelts to the list. We can’t keep Coleman and Backlund forever as they will be replaced by the younger players.
But Backlund is a machine. Tkachuk loved him.

I think it’s because they are developing them right on the wranglers
