No wonder BigThief is always so grumpy...his stick is on fire! And inexplicably has tassels on it.

Yeah I don’t see what huska sees in Rooney . Horrid 5 on 5 and to me he really is nothing special on PK. Granted huska is not the only coach around that seems to have a plug on roster just for pk. I’m also done with duehr. He can come in once in a while for a game and give energy but after a couple games he reverts right back to black hole. I’m hoping this year is the last we see of those 2 .

Low Danger: .855 - 30th; 9 GA - 30th
One thing I do think is the team isn't great at clearing out the net front, so leading to potentially medium and low danger being more difficult due to screens and traffic.
|
I've said many times, I have little respect for those high, medium and low danger stats. All shots from the same place are not created equal.
But let me put it another way... the goaltending has been good all season, at times, great. But according to these stats, it suddenly gets lousy when they go on the PK, then returns to good/great afterwards.
Which is more likely and plausible: the goaltending suddenly gets bad when they're on the PK, or the Flames are giving up higher quality chances on the PK? (from all areas)

I think they should call up Kevin's and Klapka together. Waive Duehr, Sit Rooney.
Lombi-Kerins-Klapka may click and help the team.

Yeah he's really not been great in any role this season.
Not a strong FO guy, 5v5 play has been very leaky defensively, PK hasn't been great.
Conroy hasn't made many mistakes but keeping all of Rooney, Hanley, and Barrie on the roster and waiving Schwindt is probably one of them. As Scwindt has become a pretty serviceable 4th line C/RW for the Knights.
|
I think the 4th line isn't as sheltered as a lot of 4th lines across the league, so their GA will be higher as a result. In fact, Rooney leads centres in D zone starts (as a percentage). The whole 4th line has similar numbers, and everyone loves Lomberg as opposed to hating on Rooney.
GA/60 Rooney is better than Huberdeau, Kadri and Duehr. Tied with Kuzmenko, and only .1 behind Coleman
Mostly, there's no better option for 4C.

Not much to get excited about for us 'Hawk fans. The team is going through the motions, under an interim coach, that I don't think has a chance to lose the interim tag.
They are also shopping some guys around, Hall, Reichel, Kurashev. This fan is not one for empty stats, so seeing Bedard succeed, to me, is more than racking up points in losing games. I want to see improvement in him, and, around him. Short term success with fossils like Foligno, or transient guys, like Bertuzzi, does not mean much. Besides, I expect Bertuzzi is being shopped also.
Connor Murphy is set to return from injury. I feel that he is extremely overrated, and in fact, is a liability. I wouldn't mind seeing him moved, to open up a spot for a youngster. We are, likely, stuck with Jones' contract, but can bring along some prospects. There is no excuse for playing Murphy or Brodie.
I am wondering if Mrazek, under contract for one more year, might be moved to replace am injured goalie on a contender, if someone comes shopping. Both Mrazek and Soderblom have losing records, but, cannot be blamed for the poor team results.
I'll be hanging around the GT tonight, although, I have some difficulties getting to watch the game if they are on not on ESPN plus, having dumped satellite services, to cut expenses for retirement. I do get the Hulu/Disney/ESPN plus (but, not ESPN) as a cheaper option. Tonight's game is on NHL Network in the US. I hate to pirate things, but, Yaargh and avast, I may have to tonight!
Catch you guys and gals at game time.

I feel like Bedard has been much better since the coaching change, right? That's a good thing.
