Yeah, Misa will go #1 but I am thinking more of a Hagens that could drop out, his comparison has been Hughes. Especially with that defenceman who's name I can't think of right now gets into the mix in the top 5. Martone could also go earlier.

Personally, I want Misa, but that is unrealistic, and the others may be as well.

I'll be astonished if he isn't the first player off the board.
I agree he should definitely be a top 2 pick. Not sure why he’s dropping in some lists. I’ve seen him down to 5th/6th and as low as 12th. It’s strange. Probably people putting too much stock in the WJ.

I really don't think those players outside of Rasmus bring much value. And teams aren't going to be trading a top 5 pick for any combination of those.

I think people underestimate how much a top pick is worth.

Yeah. Honest question - when was the last one a team traded a top 5 pick at the draft? I know it’s happened before but it seems like it’s been a long time.

It's been a while.

Feaster offered 3 1sts and the rest of our draft picks in 2013 for the 1st overall pick, and it was rejected.

Just tells you hard it is to move up. If Andersson and our 1st gets you into the top 5 you, do it every day.

If he goes to a contender, you get a last 1st and prospect anyways.

Pretty much the best way to get a top 5 pick from a trade these days is getting lucky on a deferred pick

Its too bad the devils are playing too well this year to defer that pick. Having 2 shots at a top pick next year wouldve been real nice. I doubt Vegas will be suddenly a lottery team next year but you never know I guess

Even that is getting difficult with the amount of protection put into those picks.

More and more teams just don't want to move 1st rounders and the ones who do usually get lottery protection.

Usually the big issue with that is you end up with a slew of good forwards but not game breakers. In this case, the Flames have done a great job at picking prospects with lots of grit and a winning attitude. I don't see guys like Coronato and Zary disappearing in tough playoff situations. Two of those guys putting up 60 points each, makes up for not having a legit #1 centre putting up 80+ points.

It was also the MacKinnon year. When you have a prospect of that calibre on the board, it's crazy to trade them.

I wouldn't have done it either, but I guess it was worth a shot.

Feels like top picks get moved more in the NFL, so harder to find any comparable in the NHL on what the cost is.

Supposedly Philly made a pitch for CBJ's pick last draft.

My fave draft pick sequence is:

Edmonton Oilers send David Perron to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Rob Klinkhammer and a 1st round pick (#16). Then Edmonton Oilers send a 1st round pick (#16 overall Mathew Barzal) and a 2nd round pick (#33 overall Mitchell Stephens) to the NY Islanders for Griffin Reinhart

Klinkhammer did play 54 games with Edmonton and had two goals and two assists over two seasons.

I believe it was Montreal offered up an unprotected 1st round pick to Chicago to get their pick. It was rejected.

Teams aren't even budging when a crappy team comes calling.

I think it was the opposite. Chicago wanted Demidov as well to play with Bedard. Offered 2025 unprotected

They (Chicago) offered it to Columbus who kept the pick to take Lindstrom

I posted a few days ago, but the Shane Wright rumours out there were more fan driven rather than factual information. Two sides never talked any sort of specific trade sadly.
