Kind of disappointed that Crosby didn't get all his team mates to come on the ice when he passed Sakic.

So I took a look a shift length and also total shifts. The Oilers just take long shifts.
For the Penguins most players were right around 45-48 seconds in their average shift length. Only two players exceeded an average of 50 seconds. Petterson at 0:54 and Beauvillier at 0:51. Good line management there.
For the Oilers, only 6 players were under 50 seconds average shift length. Okay so maybe they want to play 50 seconds instead of 45 seconds. Well, they had a lot who played an average shift of over 1:00:
McDavid - 1:10
RNH - 1:04
Draisaitl - 1:08
Hyman - 1:07
Bouchard - 1:10
I know, I know, those are the guys on the top power play unit so that skews the stats. The Oilers only had 3 power plays though.
Then you start to look at when they were out for long. Bouchard, for example, in his first 11 shifts only had 1 shift that exceeded 1 minute. In his last 12 shifts he had only 3 shifts that were under 1 minute. The last shift was the longest at 3:02 to end the game. The rest of the aforementioned players were very similar.
I know we're talking about top conditioned athletes but they're being deployed in a manner that will just burn them out. It is quite amazing that they made it to game 7 of the Stanley Cup. A smart coach who is allowed to control the players' shift lengths could probably make a difference with this team. We know that won't happen. McDavid and Draisaitl are the bosses.

I suspect Kane was close to returning and a new excuse was needed.

What a joke, obvious circumvention of cap……. But NHL does nothing.

I'm not sure that either of those terms exist there.

Why is it cap circumvention if Kane comes back the day after the trade deadline?

It isn't, they still need to account for his salary. Is he even on LTIR? I thought they didn't put him there so they could accrue cap space over the season.

Everyone knows he will be back for playoffs and not a day sooner due to cap compliance. There will be a “setback”……. Let’s stop pretending like that’s not going to happen.

He is on LTIR. So they need his salary off the books to acquire more help at the deadline.

To be fair i don't think present day Kane even helps them lol. He could help sabotage their bid, if anything.
Hurry back, money push-ups.

You were literally responding to a post that said he would be back March 8, and that was what you called cap circumvention.

Dylan Holloway with a nice tidy 15G, 17A and +11 for 32 points in 43 games. Very good for 2.3 million in cap!

But won't there be a ceremony when we honour and immortalize him and his pets?

Did anyone else see, and get a kick out of, the SN interview with Kane today? Sweatshirt over a dress shirt.
He's an Oiler, alright!
