This show continues to be solid and fun to watch, and I think a main reason is the chemistry between Jude Law and the rest of the cast as he continues to chew the scenary and it sets up some pretty serious heart break in the end.
Just some thoughts
Spoiler!
There's no question that Jod is a former Jedi, and the fact that he actually quoted Qui-gon when comforting Win makes me think that he was a youngling at the time of the Old Republic before Order 66 and had contact with Qui-gon.
Always be suspicious when a detail is left out, the hologram of Captain Rennod not showing his face rings a lot of alarm bells.
SM-33 is so great, especially when he had the restraining bolt.
By the way Rennod is Donner backwards , Richard Donner directed the Goonies.
the traps had a fun Indiana Jones vibe to it.
Pretty ruthless, Neel wants Jod to apologize to the pirates and make peace Jod drowns them in acid.
There is something stinky about At Attin, being the last mint of the Old Republic. the fact that the kids are taught algorithms from an early age makes me think its a scam or money laundering world. Also weird hint as the banking clan clearly made a comeback after being nationalized by the Empire and they're holding a summit on a resort world with Hutts in attendance.
Something don't smell right.
The biggest thing that makes this show work is the cast and especially Jude Law.

Skeleton Crew has been so much fun. My 7 year old and I have been watching it and he just loves it. Lots of Goonie vibes, so much fun for all ages.
The end of the last episode (like last week) we had one of those 'whhhhhaaatttt" moments where we both look at each other jaws dropped. So much fun being able to experience that together.
And hey look, no agenda they are trying to ram down our throats while we're watching it!!! I truly feel like it was the 'best person for the role' for all these characters.

Yeah, just finished watching the show, and I have to say that this is a really enjoyable piece of Star Wars.
Spoiler!
They did this great job of this week doing some character development with KB, who up until this point has been kind of a background character with augments. This week they really dove headlong into her where she argues Fern and the kids split up.
Then KB's augment fails and its up to Wim to save her by basically doing over due maintenance. During that time we get a nifty little conversation where we find out that KB has always been afraid to tell Fern about her limitations and things that she can't do. Fern even shows a bit of character development during the climb up the wall where she doesn't accept the limitations of her partner at first, and then learns to accept them.
The whole sequence was really well written and shot, and you did feel some emotional angst as KB was literally dying in front of you.
But what made it brilliantly written is that instead of extending this and making this a major thing, it was realistically written with kid reactions. When they're all reunited and KB and Ferm basically resumed their friendships it shows why the writers of this series are smart and different from writers of other TV shows fail. They're kids, they always have these microfights, and then they move on, there's no long trail of angst and anger and hate. We all know that when we were kids, we could fight with our friends one day, and then next time we see that friend its all water under the bridge.
The other sub story with Jod getting captured by the pirates and put on trial, where he tried to use his considerable charm to take over the pirates felt a little forced, but was a big of pirate lore fun. Of all of the villains out there, Pirates have to be most fun to write and play because you lean into the pirate stereotypes of a pirate and they did that here. There was also the comedy moment where Jod yells for 33 to attack the pirates, and the droid was instantly shot. Jude Law continues to just utterly chew the scenery, and he is a true scoundrel as he didn't have a moment of redemption in this episode where he feels bad and goes to save the kids he betrayed. Nope, instead he stole all the jewels that he could carry and was intending to steal the shop and abandon the kids.
Bryce Howard continues to show that she's an incredible Star Wars director, the pacing was really good and the effects and sense of frantic desparation in facing the trash compactor was so good, and we finally saw the effects of the demolition button as it appears that the outer hull of this ship was a disguise and what laid underneath was a treasure.
There are two episodes left, and you get a sense that it will all end back where it started at At Attin.
The only other big question is will the show creators fall into the temptation of fan service? Will we see Fennec or Hondo show up, it would make some sense. Or will we see the Republic dispatch someone like Hera to deal with the pirate fleet? I almost hope not.
Sub notes
KB acting like Wim saving her life in a casual basis while calling him a Jedi created a lump in my throat. I'm a softy, sue me.
The new look of the ship is awesome.
Who is Jod? Really, I want to find out.
KB hinted as an accident, it must have been huge as she is mostly droid.
The actress that played KB did an amazing job, as did the actor that played Wim
As for live action tv series, Its surpassed expectations, and I said I wasn't going to watch it, but out of all of the series except for Mando and some really good parts of Kenobi, this feels like the most Star Wars series out there. I mean Andor is amazing TV, and a amazing series and likely the best Star Wars series, but its not really in the vein Star Wars.

I'm shocked at how will this series has done at keeping my attention. I went into the series expecting to write it off as a kids show. I'm also accustomed to start wars series becoming a chore to watch at various points. This show has done a great job of just being fun and good. Not trying to be anything it isn't. Not trying to rewrite the lore. Just a fun adventure in the star wars universe.

I find that it seems to be generating most of it's success by not taking itself so seriously.
The Jedi dont have to save the Galaxy! Its a bunch of kids and 3rd rate pirates having an adventure.
Quick. Clean. Simple.

I’m loving this show. It’s easily top 3 for SW series up there with Andor and Mando IMO. It’s just a fun adventure with solid writing and acting, and I love that they don’t have to shoehorn in a bunch of fan service-ey Skywalker/Clone Wars bulls***. It’s simply a top notch stand-alone Star Wars story.

So much this.
Just kids having hijinks in the Star Wars universe. They're kind of like us as viewers - we know about some of the big ticket stuff (Jedi, space travel, droids), but none of the specifics of the current state of affairs.
In fact, we know slightly more than they do... even if we couldn't find AT-AT(an) on a Starmap either.
The best part is that I can watch it with my kid, and not only are neither of us bored, we both dig it and don't know what's going to happen next.

I thought another really good episode last night with the wrap up next week.
Spoiler!
something bad clearly happened to Jod during Order 66, there are two sides to him, the first the super charasmatic scenary chewing side that convinceds Brutus and the pirates not to just space him and be done with him. Then there is a cold cruel nasty side to him that has him ruthlessly shoot Brutus in the face, and throw cruel barbs at children and threatening to go Anakin Skywalker on him. There's literally no redemption for him now, but damn Jude Law has been tremendous.
There is still the silly kids aspect to the show that led to a great scene where we learn that basically Jod can't claim the ship because he's already clairmed the Pirate Frigate, so basically Finders Keepers is a part of the pirate code and good enough for 33 to sock Jod in the face. But to make Jod further irredeemable he decapitates the droid.
We also see that there are 1139 vaults underground filled to the top with old republic credits. The secrecy of the world, the droids protecting it by keeping everything in the barrier. Everyone's job is basically an accounting job. Is there any doubt that this At Atim is doing something illegal?
Great episode so much fun.
RIP Quarren Fighter Pilot

At Atim could just be forgotten about and running on auto pilot. They, at one point, were responsible for minting credits, who would get picked up by emissaries. At some point during the collapse of one of the governments they get forgotten about. The droids continue to follow orders, but just keep amassing credits, which they store in vaults.
Could be something criminal too, but that doesn't explain why they've stored so many credits.
Its almost too late now with one episode left, and I don't know if they'll be another season to introduce it as a huge money laundering organization.
Its weird though that we have to be feeling that everyone on that planet is pretty much a hostage and not allowed to leave.
No doubt they are all hostages and don't get to see the big picture. That being said their lives look pretty good in the context of the star wars universe.
My guess is that is part of the secrecy that the government put in place when they set up the mint. They needed workers, so they set up a generational system of labor. There was no automatic off switch though.
It's a bit odd for trusting the droids are though. They didn't have any way to identify the emissary other than the ship he arrived in?
Edit: Thinking about the episode more. There's a scene where the parents all reveal that you learn the truth about At Attin when you become a part of the corporation.
Also, Tak Renond is likely to play a role in this too. Maybe Rennod set up the planet for laundering, and then he passed away and it just kept stockpiling cash. Or maybe he's holed up somewhere on the planet crazily amassing money he can never spend?
Because they're all 'Old Republic Credits' they're no longer valuable as any form of legal tender and the whole thing is just a huge let-down.
Kind of like in Star Trek with their badges made of Gold. "Oh its Gold! Thats great, its valuable!"
And the Starfleet guys are just like..."Yeah. Its Gold. So what? That stuff is everywhere, nobody cares. I can literally ask this cubby-hole in the wall to make me some. How much do you want? I dont care."

IT was funny because in the Phantom Menace they literally hinted that the Republic didn't have universal currency.
Qui-gon tried to buy engine parts with republic credits on Tattooine and was told by Watto that nobody accepted Republic credits and that he needed something more real.
I do think that the empire did have a galaxy wide currency, they hinted at it in the Bad Batch when they were linking peoples money to their new identification chips.
I was looking up when Skeleton Crew takes place in the Star Wars Galaxy time line wise. It takes place 9 years after the battle of Yavin, or about 27 years after Order 66, so Jod would have been a teenager and likely a padawan if he was a jedi. I wonder if we're going to find out who his master was?

Oh yeah. People will line up for that non-stop thrill-ride...

Your last point was interesting to me. I wonder how much of that money was pirate plunder, and not officially money created by the Old Republic. What would it take to go out on Raids and come back and have what he took smelted into Republic credits, which were then purchased by the republic?
Also we never did see the face of Rennod in that hologram, Is there a chance that he's still alive?

The Republic had a universal currency. That scene was to show that Tatooine wasn't part of the Republic and the Republic (and by extension, the Jedi) didn't have any power there.
It's like if you went to a junk yard in Chicago and tried to buy parts for your car with Canadian cash.

We don't know what species he is, so he could be really long-lived, but based on how overgrown the ship was and how many vaults full of coins there are, I suspect At-Atan has been "lost" to the outside world for an extremely long time.

I just assumed that Tak Renond was the supervisor. Can’t trust other pirates. Only droids.

I actually think this fits the story pretty will. At Atin was the High Republic Mint, lost for ~150-200 years because the emissaries died without replacement and nobody knew how to get in there. It's running on auto-pilot continuing to mint, but just stock piling and stock piling, never shipping like a paper clip thought experiment. Because the mint was lost, the republic debased it's currency eroded it's value outside of it's territory. now the currency found and about to be used to rebuild the first order, since the republic paid for the empire's army the first time, but it's not explained how the first orders army was paid for.
Looks like Ray Stevenson in Ahsoka has been recast with Britain's favourite Trolley Boy!
